Magneto can manipulate 1's and 0's on a whim...he also performs EMP surgery and an MRI(You may want to look up the theory behind MRI's for more info....I'll look it up in a second)

The Helmet doesn't protect him from telepathic attacks...it's his latent telepathy that does...

To accomadate Kid Omegas explanation Mags must have revised the design of his helmet after getting mind-wiped by Xavier...

Now check it out...the click...and a big explosion with Mags caught in at the centre...

No sign of Magneto...but we know he survives because he continues to appear in other comics like Avengers...and X-Men.
