I think it's ridiculous. Having teenage depression does not make you emo. I know people that wear tight, black pants, are suicidal and cut themselves and HATE emo music. They love bands like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Led Zepplin, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, etc. That does not make them emo.

It's stupid. I have yet to meet someone that is actually emo.

One of my friends got a new hair cut, he died it dark brown and got it parted with an angled fringe. One of our friends teased him for being emo. Having a hair style does not make him emo.

YOUR ARE ONLY EMO IF YOU LISTEN TO EMO MUSIC!!!!

To me, emo is not a look, it's a music GENRE.

This whole "Emo people are whiney teenagers that listen to Simple Plan, wear black clothes, eye liner, ***** about how bad their lives are while cutting themselves" is such a ridiculous image.
I'm so tired of hearing about it.

Not once have I ever come across a so called 'emo' teenager.

I hate Metallica (and who the Hell is Kurt Cobain?), I think Led Zepplin is pretty severely overrated, I liked the Red Hot Chilli Peppers music video that had Beavis and Butthead, and the only Black Sabbath song I know is "Iron Man" (which I do like. Ahh, the good ol' stereotypical view of Rock being the Devil's music. How I miss it...).

What are "Emo's"

Are they those depressed kids ?

Wow

True, not all emo kids cut themselves but they're still annoying as hell.

And people need to remember not to mix up their stereotypes. Punks wear tight pants too and plenty of goths have the long black hair thing going.

So make sure they're wearing a My Chemical Romance shirt before you throw rocks at them.

Or, just not throw rocks at them, or abuse or anything.

The fact that anybody would wear an MCR shirt is self-punishment enough (They're not an emo band by the way).

You're kidding right? My Chemical Romance fits into the emo stereotype in everyway, the hair, the make-up, every song being "waa waa my girlfriend dumped me", not that that's a bad thing, but, please, emo is emo.

No, they're not an emo band. Emo is/was a genre of music, it's not a fashion, and they are not making emo music.

Fact.

Acutally, emo bands influenced the clothing style that we now equate with people who are 'emo.' Just like metal and grunge created a style of clothing.

No, you're putting the cart before the horse. There are clothing styles associated with genres, that doesn't mean they share the same name. Those "bands" you refer to, they aren't actually emo. The very, VERY few true emo bands existing today aren't widely know and aren't on TV or anything.

Furthermore, original/real emo has nothing in common with the dress sense you label as emo today.

Emo is a slang term used to describe a range of fashion styles and attitudes somewhat affiliated with emo music and its related scenes. As an adjective, emo can describe a style of fashion or music; or a general state of unhappiness or melancholy (as in "to feel emo"😉. Emo is also used as a noun, often pejoratively, to identify a member of the "emo scene" or someone viewed as fitting the "emo" stereotype.

In its original incarnation, the term emo was used to describe the music of the mid-1980s Washington, DC scene and its associated bands. In later years, the term emocore, short for "emotional hardcore", was also used to describe the DC scene and some of the regional scenes that spawned from it. The term emo was derived from the fact that, on occasion, members of a band would become spontaneously and strongly emotional during performances. The most recognizable names of the period included Rites of Spring, Embrace, One Last Wish, Beefeater, Gray Matter, Fire Party, and, slightly later, Moss Icon. The first wave of emo began to fade after the breakups of most of the involved bands in the early 1990s.

These days Emo is just another word for poser/idiot/trend follower/moron/AIDS victim.

That's just crap made up by kids and journalists who simply know no better. It's not actually accurate.

It's also nonsensical, as many kids use it to mean "emotional", and everyone is emotional, but you'd never hear someone be called an "emo" if they were happy. It's stupid/

A) Emotive hardcore, not emotional hardcore.

B) Original and only incarnation. There are a couple bands around still making that kind of music, and I doubt you know them.

Firstly calling them "emos" is wrong, in ways I've pointed out too often to count. Secondly, cutters cut themselves and themselves alone, what business is it of yours? Why wish death upon them because they choose to harm themselves? They're not hurting you, but you choose to -- ironically -- become one of the many sheep to label them.

Such an idiotic comment.

-AC

Well we'd better hold hand when we jump then, why say you hate people who wish death apon people for no reason, then do it yourself.

And butters said "faggy goth kid," not "oppressive...blah blah blah"

I never said I was above it, I said why do it to those who cut themselves? Half the time, in reality, these people are spending more time trying to hide the fact that they're cutters than promoting it. They're not hurting anyone but themselves, and often there's a very acceptable explanation as to why it happens, regardless of if you understand or agree.

You're saying you wish they'd cut themselves because they cut themselves, so it makes your trip to the mall easier. Where's the logic? I would rather you, an oppressive pseudo bully, kill yourself than someone who probably needs help more than anything.

Yeah, he did, but I'm not too sure what you're hoping to achieve by bringing that to my attention.

-AC

Maybe, hear me out on this one, just MAYBE, its was a JOKE. Just maybe.

And why bring the butters thing up? Well i dont like people who misquote people, especially Butters, hows he gonna defend himself when people twist his words to make them useable in their arguments

hurrah for you, why bother with it if your gonna put half a quote then just amend the ending to make it relevant to your ending?
