yeah, but his scoring efficiency is amazing, considering how many shots he takes. there are several players who are talked about a lot when all they do is score. but if Redd keeps it up this season, he definitely deserves to be an allstar.

I like Redd's game, he is money from outside (whether you get a hand up or not) and he has started using those silky ballhandling skills of his and taking it to the hole. Huge game breaking Kareem's record for the Bucks.
When talking of underrated i always notice people sleeping on Joe Johnson. The guy is one of the most complete players in the league ( i would love to see him running the point for the Lakers) he can score inside and out, can run an offense like a PG, very solid defender (not just in steals he can lock his man down to), good rebounder and a nice post game. I know he made the USA team but he never seems to get the praise he deserves imo.
YES! What a relief. The nets, ONCE AGAIN blew a double digit lead to the wizards in the 2nd half, but Vince's buzzer beating 3 to send it to overtime was the dagger. The nets outscored them by 12 in OT. But I'm feeling a little concerned at how they're not finishing games well. Last game at home, they blew a 17 point lead to the heat and lost. This time, they blew a 16 point lead, and should have lost, but Vince bailed them out. It simply shows the lack of depth the nets still have and I believe will not regain in a long time.

Agreed. The same goes with almost everybody who has played with Nash the last 2 seasons. When somebody from the Suns gets a compliment, somebody else always chimes in "Well, they wouldn't be any good if it weren't for Nash." Pisses me off.

It's not true that they wouldn't be any good, but it's indisputable that Nash was a big contributing factor to there success. The year Marbury went out and Nash came in, the Suns exploded; no other roster changes. Which proves how essential Nash is to the team. Guys like Barbosa and Bell I would agree upon calling them underrated, but Diaw gets enough attention, and IMO, he's the biggest benefactor off of Nash.

Or it proves how terrible Marbury is. In fact, I think most people overlook the fact that it was Marbury there before and every team gets better when he leaves.
Anyway, I know Nash is good and helps his teammates, but it is brought to an extreme and everybody else's skills are overlooked. Joe Johnson is proving right now that he didn't need Nash to be good. But if he were doing this on the Suns, Nash would be getting 75% of the credit for what Joe Johnson is doing. Same thing happened with Boris Diaw. Yes, Steve Nash helps him, but many people seem to completely give the credit to Nash.
While we're on the Nash subject, I'd like to say, I hate the fact that the NBA has changed rules to favor small ball and eliminate defense. Nash is the very symbol of the NBA's rule changes that piss me off. I have been raised to cherish defense. I have personally worked hard to become a defensive minded player and I appreciate those who play hard defense in the NBA. However, now the concept of defense has been flipped on me. Nash has always been a good PG that was always a lower-level all-star. Suddenly, the NBA takes away the players' abilities to play hard defense and now Nash is suddenly a premier player. The NBA is taking the D out of the game and making it 1-dimensional. Nash is the very symbol of this. Earlier we had an argument of Nash vs Payton in his prime. One reason I believe Payton's prime is superior is because he was a premier player when the NBA was tough on guards. Nash would have never been an MVP candidate during the days when people were allowed to defend the perimeter. In his Dallas days, he was a defensive reliability. The moment he went to the Suns, rule's changed making that not a problem anymore. It sickens me.

Excellent post Myth, i loved the way they used to call the game when a good scorer had to work hard for his points. Now as soon as you lay a hand on a player its a foul, how this is supposed to improve the overall flow of the game is beyond me.
I dont think Nash is the catalyst for the rule change though although he certainly benefits from it (to be honest i dont know who is). What i do know is Wade and LeBron in particular are now impossible to guard on the perimeter because their game is based around driving to the hole and finishing, even great defenders like Artest and Prince are helpless now. Both Wade and LeBron are going to be HOF's but i do think that its being given to them a little easy, MJ had to through the fire many times before he reached the top and had to earn his stripes (mainly from the Pistons). I dont get the same feeling watching these guys go to the line on little touch fouls and getting easy points. This is also one of the reasons i feel that team USA will continue to struggle against good teams, they dont call touch fouls in the international game.
Back to Nash, he is without a doubt one of the best to play his position but he is also a product of the offense they run in Phoenix (or vice versa if you like). His skills are suited playing in a run and gun offense with defense as an afterthought. As great as Nash is i personally wouldnt rate him above Stockton, the reason being that Stockton did everything Nash does just as well in a more structured offense and played defense at a much higher level.
Finally solid win from the Lakers tonight, even if it was against a lackadaisical Grizzles team.
