Barkley was taking it much more seriously than Bavetta. Makes sense too as he had everything to lose. I'm sure Chuck would've loved to be beaten by a 67 year old in front of 18,000 fans and millions watching on TV. He also would've been crucified by Ernie and Kenny for the rest of the year. That's simply showing off how high you can jump, that shouldn't be your whole dunk. It's creative, but it's not really convincing. It would have been a lot better if he was to slap the sticker, then have Jameer Nelson throw the ball up, then catch the ball with both hands and do like a double-pump and then throw it down. I know he can do that, seeing how high he can jump. And that would have been a lot more impressive. That probably would deserve a 50.
Dunks are judged by a number of different factors which include creativity and degree of difficulty. Just because someone does a never before seen dunk doesn't necessarily mean that it's automatically a 50. You have to include the difficulty, the power, and whatnot. For a guy his height and finesse, I think there was room for improvement. That's all I'm saying.
I still have to disagree Recs. Its not like he had the ball in one hand and touched the backboard, he fully concentrated on the sticker being as high as he could get it, THEN grabbed the ball (without looking at it). That dunk includes creativity and a high degree of difficulty. Plus, it was a hell of a lot better than Nate's dunk that followed.

Nate's dunks were pretty unimpressive, no doubt, but you know when I heard about Dwight Howard doing a dunk that involved the backboard, I expected more. I would say the "without looking" part is the only difficult part. The fact that he can jump that high is cool, but I don't think it should be the essence of the dunk. Rather, it should be an addition to a double-pump or a windmill or whatever he can do. Like when Gerald Green jumped over the table, the jumping part wasn't the main attraction, the windmill was. The table just added a little flavor to it. Dwight's dunk had the flavor, but it didn't have the "meat." (Sorry for the lack of a better word. I had to use metaphors on that one 😄)
