Nah, the game seemed alright to me. Like I said before, Heat fans had a finals series favored for them, so why are they complaining when one game seems to be "rigged".

I am also glad Phil is aware of this book, and the fact that they called him a penguin. He will fa sure use this as motivation and help further improve the Lakers chances of beating them.
While I do find their statements offending, we as a team arent exactly angels either. There were reports when we were facing the kings back then that Phil would alternate pictures between Coach Rick Adelman and Adolf Hitler to psyche up the team. Dont forget our remarks against the Kings as well. Shaquille called them the Sacramento Queens and Phil called Sacramento a Cow Town. Point is that insults thrown between teams are common. Not trying to start another fight Lord Evolution, just stating that trash talking and insults are a part of the game, no matter how ugly it is.

Well, I'm actually excited. I seriously see the Lakers playing their asses off tomorrow. Phil must've laughed at these remarks when he first heard of them.

Yeah, I wasnt surpraised about the outcome, but I have to give it to the Raptors and the fans, even though they're were always down by 10 it seemed, the almost came back.
Amazing defending by the Raptors on Carter. ( I understand he had a decent 4th, didnt see it). Everytime he came near the box, he was curled up like a little baby and shot offbalance fadeways. Typical old Vince.
Cant argue with that man, Kobe was cold in the 2nd half and they needed to milk the post up advantages that they had. Lamar had it going down there and he should have been the focal point with cutters coming off him. Kobe kept is in it in the first half and our defense was pretty solid, but he needed to realise the momentum starting to change in the 3rd and stop the jumpers. Kwame was terrible down on the block but could be useful as a cutter when the ball goes down low to Lamar, Kobe or Luke. We still kept it close but just lacked composure and discipline down the stretch, hopefully that can change in game 2.
One last thing, the Suns have got to be the worst floppers in the league. Pretty much every Sun on the court flopped at one stage, even Amare. Maybe its just me but i hate that tactic and for it to be rewarded by the refs is encouraging players to play defense like little girls.
Two things upset me in this game. One, when we had a good lead but we got too comfortable, not minding the Suns' little run. Did anyone get upset by the amount of second chance opportunities the Suns got? Or the amount of times Barbosa flew by his defender at will? The second was Kobe's force of shots at the end of the game. We were only down by six with two minutes go, but Kobe started forcing perimeter shots when it was obvious that he cooled down. He should've tried to get the team more involved just a little while longer. I dont know why this team loses leads so easily.
We lose leads because of lack of discipline, Kobe as the leader of the team has to set the tone and stick to the gameplan. I'd rather lose by at least trying to go inside and get good shots instead of jacking up 3pt fadeways, the Suns have a glaring weakness but we just chose to ignore it especially down the stretch.

Exactly. Kobe takes just as much blame as everyone else. He has to stick to the gameplan, for better or for worse. How can the Lakers gain confidence down the stretch if they rely too heavily on Kobe trying to take control of the game by himself all the time? I dont mind if Kobe tries to stick it to the Suns, but he was taking ridiculous shots even though he was obviously cold.
I would love to see him try and get to the hole more, i dont rate Bells defense that highly and Kobe can get the step on him all day. At the very least it makes the Suns react and maybe gets them in foul trouble, the foul discrepancy was very one sided and it was mainly because our over reliance on outside shots. If we get wide open shots out of Kobe driving then you have to take them but you have to prepared for long rebounds which fuels the Suns transition game.
No way can we win the series playing Kobe ball, thats why i wasnt that excited about us leading at half time because we didnt have the balance needed to beat the Suns. Against other teams its might work, but the Suns want Kobe to try and score 50+ its the balanced scoring that won us games in last years series.

✅ Though currently, I am voting for anybody over the Suns and if the Lakers were to ever meet against the Knicks in the finals, I would likely root for the Lakers. Almost any other situation, its lose Lakers lose. Though, I'm smart enough to look at teams for what they are and not my only personal bias.
It all started going down hill when Phil brought Smush in...what the **** is he doing on the playoff roster!?!? He was giving Barbosa the red carpet all the way to the basket. Get this guy off the court and don't even let him watch us play. Then at the end of the game....I hate how everyone was just standing there watching Kobe, move the **** around so he can get you the ball. Can't really blame Kobe for taking those shots, I mean what the hell are you suppose to do when your teammates are just sitting there watching. At least get near the key to get a rebound or something. Standing there on the perimeter while Kobe does all the work is not going to win games.
I agree that the team needs to cut and move when Kobe has the ball, but Kobe should be operating from the foul line down not out by the 3pt line. He is unstoppable in the post against single coverage but he didnt attack from good positions tonight. When he takes a couple of dribbles and fires up a 3 i feel like he is letting the defense off the hook (sure im jumping up and down if they go in but its not smart basketball against the Suns), he needs to attack from the foul line down either with drives or post ups. I said a few pages back that if he gets doubled then our cuts need to come down the lane, a) because the Suns have no interior defense and b) because our shooters suck. Hoisting 3's out of double teams are pretty much turnovers with our shooters whereas getting to the rim out of doubles are either a high percentage shot or a trip to the line.
Kobe can play much smarter than that but i agree the rest of the guys have to cut and give better angles, he has shown throughout his career that he can take bad shots but he has also shown that he will give it up if the guys are running the offense and in good positions.
I also agree that Smush has no business being out there if his defensive effort is going to be so poor. Defense should be the only thought in his mind now and if he cant or wont play it then he should take a seat.
I was at a party with 6 Laker fans and 1 Suns fan. We all were cheering because we were up by like 10 but then as soon as we saw Smush was coming in everyone got silent except for the Suns fan, no he wasn't silent like us, he was actually cheering when he saw Smush was coming in. "YES! YES!" is what he yelled. Smush = Suns best friend.
It's no catch22, it is simple really and I have game highlights to prove it. When those bone heads move around Kobe can get them the ball especially since he is drawing double teams and traps. I liked Kobe's aggresiveness towards the end of the game, those shots he normally makes and gets praised for. But we could have gotten easier shots had they not just stood there and watched him go to work all by himself. Same thing happens in Cleveland.
