Good things don't last forever, man.
Cheer up, you know how disappointed I was when the Nets lost the 2 final series matchups in a row. They were the only chances we had for a title. And now look where we are.
You at least got to see the Lakers win 3 titles in a row.

Yeah I know but those are distant memories now. I wish I could go back and slap Phil Jackson for saying it was either him or Kobe. That ultimatum IMO single handedly destroyed what we had and it set off a chain reaction. Phil gets fired, Shaq demands to get traded, gets traded for bread crumbs and Lakers sign Kobe and leaves him with no teammates. And here we are today, getting pissed on by a Suns teams that at the time was fighting not to have the worst record in the NBA.
Now excuse me while I go dunk on Nash and Bell continuously in NBA 2K7. It is the only way to blow off some steam.

Lakers are playing today. This is how I view the series. If they show up tonight and destroy the Suns I still see this being a competitive series, lasting 6-7 games. If they lose tonight, I wouldnt be surprised if they were swept on Sunday. If they barely win tonight, this will last 5-6 games in favor of the Suns. It all matters how they come and play tonight. Do they still have passion? Or did the last game break their spirits? I know that if they got swept Kobe would be really pissed and would be demanding help by next season, either in the form of new players or experience and maturity with the current roster. When it's all said and done, either if we pass the first round or not, I seriously hope we get new help for Kobe. His prime is wasting away and the Laker organization should respect his contributions to the franchise by putting better players around him.
The only Lakers i would absolutely keep after this season are Kobe, Lamar, Bynum, Turiaf, Farmar and Walton. Anyone else is on the block, the problem with that is that the players left arent gonna fetch much on the market. I mean what are you gonna get back for players like Cook and Sasha?
The Lakers have to make a tough choice, the only players that will fetch anything worthwhile are Bynum and Lamar, but are they willing to destroy the core of the team and hope the new talent will get them further? We only have the MLE to spend on free agents so we might be able to get a semi decent PG with that, but until Shaq's contract comes off the books we are limited with what we can do to improve.
As for tonights game, i dont know what to think. This game is all about pride, passion and heart and after the last game i'm wondering how many of our players have that. If they dont come out with the fire in the belly tonight then most of them dont deserve to wear the purple and gold.

To me anyone not named Kobe can be traded. Kobe is getting fed up, and as classy as he his patience is wearing thin. If you read the last quote from Kobe he says that the team has some major decisions to take, either they go for contender or wait for this team to grow. Jackson is getting frustrated too. He says that he's getting paid a lot to take them somewhere but they're obviously not. Here's the thing though, our best trade pieces are Bynum and Odom, in that order. I'll say that Farmar is our third best trading piece. If you ask me, Bynum should be packaged in a trade IF we can get a low post threat back. If that doesnt work, then we'll look to shop Odom. I am not willing to trade both but I am willing to let go of one of them for someone who can help this team. For me, we should package Bynum and here's how the outlook should be Kobe/second option/Odom. I'm hoping that the second option is an all star caliber player. A lot of fans dont want to break up our current core but if we keep them then we're obviously saving up for the future, which means Kobe's prime will be put to waste. There is no way we're going to win anytime soon with this lineup. You have to be willing to give something in order to receive something back. We've tried this lineup for two straight years, it's obviously not talented or experienced enough to win now. Either we break up this team and try to fix it up into a contender or we keep these players and wait for them to mature. Why wait for potential in Bynum when nothing's guaranteed? The term POTENTIAL is overrated. We should let go of Bynum if we can get something back.
