Durrant is the more talented no doubt but the defensive presence and intimidation that Oden brings will be more valuable in the NBA imo.
In terms of offense Oden has the potential to be a dominant post player, Aldridge has a nice face up game to compliment that and Webster is the shooter to make teams pay if they double down on Oden.
I prefer the balance on the Blazers roster offensively and defensively if they were to take Oden, but either Oden or Durrant will drastically improve the franchise.
Draft results:
1. Portland
2. Seattle
3. Atlanta
4. Memphis
5. Boston
6. Milwaukee
7. Minnesota
8. Charlotte
9. New York1
10. Sacramento
Hmm...last year it was Toronto and now it's Portland's turn to make good on their pick. I think it's almost a no brainer that they're goin with Oden, as talented as Durant is you very seldom see a player like Oden come around with the potential to dominate the league, especially in today's league which is starved for good quality centers.
I tell you one thing if they don't get him I'm pretty sure Seattle will. That would definitely complete the Sonics as a team, the offensive scoring punch of Allen and Lewis along with the defensive presence of Oden. This would instantly make them playoff contenders again. If not they should trade the pick for another good inside player like KG or Brand.
Atlanta has a young talented team if they get a good pick @# 3 they could also improve a lot. My guess is they'll go with a pt. gaurd. Who's the 3rd best player in the draft?

Congrats on getting the first pick Myth, who would you take if you were the GM?
I'd take Oden, his offense will come around with time but his defense is where he will earn his paycheck for now. The Blazers are looking good with the young talent they have:PG - Jack / Rodriguez
SG - Roy / Jones
SF - Webster / Outlaw
PF - Aldridge / Randolph
C - Oden? / Pryz
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!
OH MY GOD! So its about 6am where I am and I have been awake for hours not being able to sleep because of my droolage of going to have Greg Oden. I was on hand at the Portland radio broadcast and was celebrating with Ime Udoka, Fred Jones, and the Blazer broadcasters (I was on every local news channel during the celebration because I was front row).
Anyway, this is what I would do as GM.
1st, draft Oden.
2nd, trade Randolph and I would try to work out a trade for Rashard Lewis. Lewis has already stated that he would love to play for Nate McMillan again and sees him as a father figure. Also, by drafting Oden, Seattle is forced to draft Durant, which makes Lewis the odd man out in Seattle (unless they think Durant can play PF right off the bat). It would only make since for Randolph and Lewis to be switched for each team.
Blazers have 4 2nd round picks that could be useful in trades as well.

Im actually happy for the Blazers, i like all of their young players especially Roy and Aldridge and Nate McMillan is a class act.
This probably means the Blazers will give the Lakers even more headaches next season, but thats on the Lakers front office for not improving the team. You cant be mad that other teams are improving.
I see Oden and Aldridge working really well together, both play great defense and Aldridge has the nice mid range game that compliments a great low post center. They could be the new "Twin Towers" for the next decade.
Roy and Jack are also very good defenders, Outlaw has that potential defensively to. You can keep Randolph or swap with Lewis and that gives you a legit 20ppg scorer, i still think they could do with another consistent scorer but the future is certainly bright in Rip City.
On a side note, did anyone see the Celtic fans before and after the lottery? Some cats even had Celtic Oden jerseys on, oh the humanity!
😆
I appreciate the support Kool, and I love the core of players we have now. I think they could be title contenders in 3-5 years. I was suggesting to Portland's broadcasters that they dub Aldridge and Oden as the "Towers of Power" since Twin Towers has been used. As for the Celtic fans, oh wow what a seen. But I prefer this one:

That is actually the reaction once the Hawks were given 3rd, nobody could hear that we got 1st and it took us a bit to see it on the screen. The radio audience apparently didn't know what pick we got for a long time because our cheers drowned out the broadcasters.

They got the 12th pick. 😐
Now do you see why I wanted them to friggen lose? Unless we trade up to around the 4-7 pick, we will have the same record again, and then settle for another 12 pick, and continue to have the same record.
