I always got Live under the early 2000s when the Kobe Courtside games came out, then went back to Live when Courtside was discontinued, and finally to 2k in 2005.

Yeah, I agree. 2k is best.

Speaking of games, with the preseason approaching fantasy hoops is just around the corner. Who's in this year?

I expect to see a lot of the regulars on here this time in our KMC league.

deffo for me. whos sorting it out? i'll have a go if noone else wants too.

Live hasn't been good since 2005, which I still consider to be the best basketball game of all time. Both series have regressed, but Live has fell of completely. 2K has been better in 06 and 07. I have played the NBA Live 08 demo from the Playstation store and they are definitely back in the game, but if 2K fixes all those glitches that were present in last years game then that's the game to get, if they remain, get Live.

If anyone here has a PS3 and PSN then my ID is TreyVfromLBC. Add me.

I think 2k7 is the best sports game I've ever played, besides MVP Baseball 2005.

Live is too slow IMO and I think it just feels much more real, and smooth to shoot with the analog stick instead of pressing a button. Other than that, Live 08 isn't that bad, but the 2k8 demo is better.

I love playing NBA Live. Maybe its because I score 100= points a quarter. Back on topic. Any early ROY candidates?

durant most likely.

Best sports game? 2k7 wasn't even better than 2k6, a game I consider to be the 2nd best basketball game of all time. The best sports games of all time are

Football

Madden 05
Madden 06

Basketball

NBA Live 2005

Baseball

MVP 05
MLB 07 The Show
MLB 06 The Show

i once loved total nba 96. for me that was incredible. until i played nba fastbreak. that was great. even though at first i didnt like the behind the back view, i got into it and it played well. then nba live 99 came out and i invested, and that was good, if a little too fast and unreal. played nba live since until nba2k6 came out. found it difficult but now its teh only game i'll play basketball wise.

cept for nba jam on the snes.

Last year it was Doom and Doc. Haven't seen much of Doom on here lately and Doc I think is busy with fantasy football at the moment but there's still time, so I guess you should get in touch with them first and see if they're still doing it and if they're not I say go for it. As long as I'm able to participate in it, I don't really care who starts it.

Heck I'll even start it if no one else wants too but I'm only going to participate this time if the other regular members of this board do also. It's really fun and competitive with a deep league so unless we can get 12 people to join this time then it's just not worth it. I'd rather join one of the public leagues instead. Last year I was in 2 leagues but this year I only want to be in 1 and I would like it to be a 12 deep KMC league.

It would be fun to compete against the regulars on this board, so who ever is interested should start looking into it now and let Doc or Vandalworks know you're interested. Maybe you could start keeping some kind of list of who's officially in.

Btw, Vandal you might want to invite Darth Royke if you know him and if you're not actually him I mean. Not sure if you changed your username but if you did I missed it.

I was just reading that Oden will be considered a rookie next year and eligible for all the rookie awards (unless he comes back and plays in a game this year).

you're not the first to say that.

You must have played a different live 2005 than me. That was the one with Jason Kid on the cover right? IT was good but 2k6 was better to me. Live always felt liek this hyper ass-run and gun kind of arcade game to me.

LOL, yeah that was the dead giveaway.

Live 2003 was the one with Kidd on the cover. And you are right, there was absolutely no defense in any of these Live games and all you had to do to score was run and dunk, up until 2005, which had Melo on the cover. In 2004, everyone was saying, all this game needs is defense, and sure enough they delivered the next year, but then reverted back to crap with '06.

2005 was the first year EA started putting the dunk contest and 3 point shootout in their games.

It was through a link I found on the message board at the Blazers website. I remember it was an article that was mainly talking about the Sonics but it was in the additional notes at the bottom.
