I wonder if Dirk cussed out Terry in German or English when Terry didn't contest Nash's three pointer?

Conference finals should be sweet. Should be interesting to see if Spurs can slow down Nash and co. I think Spurs in six.

I think Miami will beat Detroit in seven. A lot hings on what condition Shaq will be in. If Detroit can play Shaq straight up and shut down D-Wade and their three point shooters Detroit will win. While I think they can stop Miami's three point shooters from going off, stopping Flash is another story.

I want Suns to beat Spurs. Heat to beat Pistons. ANd then Heat to win it all.

I want the all the teams get diqualified for anything then the Sonics win by default

BOOOO for miami...lets goooooooo detriot....they can shut down d-wade and contain shaq, hey if they can do it against kobe they can do it against miami, although wade does make me more nervous because he is a more unselfesh player than kobe but i have all the confidence in the world that detriots D will pull through 🙂

in the west i want the spurs to win... i forgot in the beggining of the year i put money down on them in vegas with them and detriot meeting in the finals

Miami is a better 'team' than the Lakers were. The ball movement will be much better and harder for Detroit to contain. Not impossible, just harder. Go Miami!

Yeah Spurs! Notch up game 1. 😉

thats what i was trying to get at....i'm already getting pumped for the game tomorrow....i think billups is going to be a tough matchup for wade...without a doubt, the most underrated point guards in the league, and if he plays up to his ablilities....fans should be in for a treat (espicially detriot fans😮‍💨 )

As much as I love Steve Nash, I gotta go with the Spurs winning this one. So far, 1-0....

I'm starting to get torn between which teams I would root for in each series that may come up.

Spurs/Suns: Definitely want the Spurs to win. I did not agree with the MVP going to Steve-lack-of-D-Nash and now I really want to see them lose. If they were recognized for winning the championship as a team, I would be fine, but Nash is getting too much credit and I don't want him to get all the credit for a championship. Crediting Nash for Suns winning the whole thing would be like chosing an individual from last years Pistons and crediting them rather than the acknowledgement that it was team success. So, I'm rooting against Suns for that reason and the fact that I have always liked the Spurs and Duncan.

Miami/Detroit - Never been a huge Detroit fan, but didn't hate them. Last year I rooted for them over the Lakers but that was because they were the Lakers. Sometimes, I just want to see a new winner. Also, I like Wade and would like to see the biggest figurative 'f-you' to the Lakers by Shaq leading another team to the Finals.

Possible Finals:
Spurs/Pistons: I would in a heart-beat chose Spurs. Again, rooted for Spurs since Robinson days. Love Duncan.

Miami/Phoenix: Again, Miami for the reasons above and anti-Suns for the reasons above.

Detroit/Phoenix: I think I would want Detroit to win. Strictly because of the Nash thing. Most other years I would probably root for the Suns. I have liked the Suns in the past, and I do like Nash. However, I don't like players being overrated and when that occurs, I wish for them to lose, so sorry Nash.

Miami/San Antonio: This is the hardest choice for me. I have always loved the Spurs but have never been a huge Parker fan and I am increasingly not liking Ginobili. Still as big of a Duncan fan as ever though. On the other hand, I would not root for Shaq other than the "f-you Lakers" factor. Still wish Wade a ton of luck though. These are the teams I am rooting for to get to the finals, but for me, this would make a boring finals because I would have a hard time rooting against either team. If this becomes the case, I'll just sit back and enjoy basketball without having much to root for.

your a Nash hater...man, did you see him hit that 3 against dallas to put them in overtime...wasnt he awesome in that game...wait...wasnt he awesome in that series.....you know you loved it

I think that Nash completely deserved MVP, as a matter of fact, I was jokingly predicting that he would get it since the beginning of the season. I think Nash is awesome, but I really want my Spurs to win this one.

Spurs vs. Heat.. i want the heat to win
Suns vs. Heat... again i want the Heat to win
Spurs vs Pistons... Pistons
SUns vs. Pistons...this would be awesome.. the beat offense against the best defense.. yes, their D is better than the Spurs... anyway i would want the Suns

Well Nash won the MVP so thats that. I think he deserved it, Shaq and Nash have had equally big impacts on their respective teams and could still meet in the finals (wouldn't that be an exciting match up?) I think that the Spurs will take it in 6 or 7 against the Suns, the Spurs are so organised and their transition defense in the last game was awesome. I have always said that Detroit's defense will take them back to the finals and i am sticking by that, the only thing that will stand in their way is if their offence stalls like it has been on occasion. Rasheed needs to look for his offence more, when you have the other Wallace outscoring Sheed then it doesn't look good. The one thing the Heat have that the Laker's didn't apart from ball movement is 3 point shooting and that could be a problem for the Pistons. I see this one going all the way to 7. I'm still picking the Spurs to win it all.

Nash hater: Yes and no.

I like Steve Nash. Don't get me wrong. He's a great guy, and a great baller. He also makes a game fun to watch. But I think he got too much individual credit for what was team success. Right now, Nash is highly overrated. When a guy is overrated and gets too much credit, I simply want him put back in his place.

I guess him being overrated is subjective, i personally disagree but thats the thing about opinions. He makes the Suns tick, while he is off the floor the Suns offence doesn't look anywhere near as fluid as when he is on court. Not only is he a great playmaker, he is one of the best shooters in the league. I think this year he has made a claim as one of the premier PG's in the NBA, the only weakness in his game is defense but then you could say that about most PG's in the league. Long story short, without Nash i don't see the Suns getting past Dallas.

I didn't think Nash deserved the MVP in the regular season because he had more weapons to work with than any other point guard in the league; however, he literally carried the Suns past the Mavs so my opinion of him is starting to change.

Detroit looked dominant. Wade has to take this series over because Shaq is not going to dominate with his injury and age. That certainly is a problem since all of Detroit's defense is focusing on Wade.

I'm not saying that the Suns aren't good with him. He is just the final piece to the puzzle. The Suns needed a true PG to run the show. Nash is no better than Kidd or GP was or Stockton (it is absurd that Nash got MVP when Stockton never even got nominated). You put any true PG on the Suns and they will run smoothly. Of course the Suns did bad when Nash got injured (which was a major reason Nash got MVP). Barbosa was starting when he is only a decent backup and then there was nobody to back him up.

Kidd, Payton and Stockton are in my opinion pretty elite company. So by that train of thought Nash could be the best PG in the league. Stockton probably should have got at least a nomination i agree with you there, he lead the league in assists in nearly every year he played. But maybe Nash being named MVP shows that the NBA is starting to acknowledge the little guy like they should of when Stockton and Thomas were tearing the league up.
Your second point is valid but i dont think there are many true point guards in the NBA anymore certainly not the caliber of Nash. There are some great scoring point guards but not many pass first. At the same time there are no 7-1, 320lbs centres who pass and dominate like Shaq. The fact is they have both had great seasons and maybe they should have shared the award then that would have kept both sides happy.

wuTa - I know you were joking. But it was partially true, so I expanded on it.

Kool - I know Nash is one of the few pass first PGs, but giving a PG an MVP for doing nothing but passing is like giving a C the MVP for defensive rebounds and outlet passes. MVPs should be able to do more than just one thing. Nash can score too, but 15.5 is hardly what I consider scoring when compared to true MVP caliber players. The biggest problem I have with Nash getting MVP is simply that he is a defensive handicap. MVPs are superstars that can dominate games in 3 or more ways. Not just in one way. I like Nash. He is definitely a star player. But he is no superstar.

Also...... come on Blazers! Hopefully they get a lucky draw and get better than #5 pick.
