I like the fact that Farmar went to Phil to address the issues so it doesnt snowball and effect the teams chemistry. But i would settle for him just playing hard and keeping his man in front of him, i mean some of our perimeter defense problems are due to lack of communication between big and small on the pick and roll - but most of the time Farmar's man doesnt even need a pick to blow by him. You would think that with Farmar's speed he'd be able to stay with quick guards but damn he gets beat every time.
I'm hoping Kobe will step up and lead our defense from here on in, he is the best perimeter defender we have and its fair to say he has been coasting recently. If he can get back to that Olympic level type D then i think the rest of the guys will step it up to, he doesnt need to score 30 a night so he has the energy to do it. That is the biggest way Kobe can lead this team right now because they are all looking lifeless on D. No better time to do that than the next game with a marque matchup against D-Wade who is playing really well at the moment.
Jordan did well, but he needs to adjust his attitude. He has quick hands, a great vertical leap. Work on his jump shot and move ur feet. The pick and roll has been a thorn in the Lakers side for many years. It all starts with the guards and the Bigs have to be in the middle. Kobe is the best defender and Trevor is 2nd. I agree my friend, Kobe can lead by staying within the offense and the rest of the guys keep helping. Healthy Pau is so important on this trip. I hope Andrew can develop a nice 10-15 FT shot. Without the lob or the nice jump hook, he struggles. Wade has been struggling, but big lights and Kobe coming in...he can light it up. Play good defense and I would start Ariza. Don't put Kobe on Wade right away. Kobe has that I'll shut u down and u score on me, I have to get u back attitude. That's good to want to shutdown the opposing best player. But refs are funny and the game can turn with bad calls
Congrats, Myth
52 for Roy
We deserved to lose tonight, the Heat played much harder than we did. Its a perfect example of how you can have a great team on paper but if they dont put forth the effort you can lose to a less talented team that leaves it all out there. Just a lethargic effort on both ends, i hope this sends a message to the team.
Bynum really needs to step up and play with some fire, i know he was in foul trouble most of the game but he seems to be going through the motions to often. He could impact the game just by crashing the boards and contesting shots, but he is not nearly as aggressive as a player his size should be.
I also cant believe how easily the Heat stopped our post up game for the bigs, they just fronted the post and our entry passers acted like they had never seen that before. You get taught at entry level to swing the ball to the free throw line, get the big to seal his man and run a high low option. That is as basic as it gets and im stunned we didnt go to that to get easy scores for Bynum and Pau.
The "rematch" on xmas day will be ugly for us Laker fans if we dont step it up on both ends. Play hard, cover for each other defensively and share the ball, that should be our mantra from here on out.
Agreed
Pau and Andrew should've dominated
Missed FTs lost the game. Kobe shouldn't have been in that position
Play hard tomorrow nite. Play defense. Establish Pau and Andrew. Pau has a winning record against Howard. Do not. Repeat. Do not leave the three point shooters open
Lakers fans. We are a good team. To get to the next lvl, we have to play defense
