It didn't matter anyway. Sweeney knew Johanna was still alive but he really didn't care about her that much. Sweeney was more so obsessed with the life he lost than actually concerned with Johanna. He wanted the baby Johanna that was apart of that life. He showed very little concern for adult Johanna. She was nothing more than a pawn to him. He made that clear in several instances including the song Johanna where he was slashing people's throats

"you stay, Johanna, the way I dreamed you were."

"I think I miss you less and less as every day goes by"

Just wondering...have you girls ever seen a Johnny movie that you didn't like?
I did, sadly. I had to get up and leave the theater 2/3 of the way through Charlie and the Chocolate factory because I didn't think I could stand it any longer. IMO, Gene Wilder played Willy Wonka much better. They both tried to capture the madness of Willy Wonka, but in different ways. I personally liked Wilder's way better. But that's just my opinion. Any movies for you?

Ur fav movie is POTC 1 + 2; you have Malfoy as your siggy; your picture is from POTC. And you weren't smiling at the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I honestly must say I don't believe anyone who says they don't like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory bc if they didnt they wouldnt have to even say so, so I am just like confused.... crazy

gathering

I was just on the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory forum, and someone said they saw the first one a lot. I don't think the first one was popular for our generation, kind of behind times. So, you must be upset you watched it. I haven't seen the first one as much as I'd liked nor had time to read that book in particular like a lot of ppl on that forum said. So the new one was what I saw most of, not that it means anything, though. I wonder what ppl are trying to prove by admitting how they watch the old Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a lot. That's what makes me sick. Probably to say they are like that.

I just love both of them, but I can say I like anything. Ppl basically think when you say you do or don't like something that you mean everyone should be the same but that everyone shouldn't be. I could be where you are right now, but I like films in general, so I usually look into ones that seem to mean something actually, something I'd like to use to like better myself anyway.

Actually, I watch old musicals a lot. I always got work all day from school, so I didn't have time to remember to ask my mom to pick it up from the lib and didn't happen to get that on my wish list yet bc I keep forgetting somehow. I don't even have an iPod. I got my first iTunes a few weeks ago bc I had nothing to do.

starwars

And as for walking out, I got to see it twice, but I can't even go to the movies it's so hyped up sexually and I really want to go. I didn't get to see Sweeney Todd. I'm too sick right now and am homebound bc of my fatigue.

death

I only like TIm Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I hate Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. That movie is complete crap to me and has been since I was a child. Someone had to force me to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because I was afraid it was gonna suck like the original. I was pleasantly surprised as Tim Burton's version is one of my favorite movies now. The original still blows big time IMO. It was nothing more than a raping of Roald Dahl's book to peddle candy. That's why they changed the name because they were about to launch the Willy Wonka candy line and they wanted the movie to match the name of the Candy but when the movie flopped they put off making the candy till the 1980s after the movie got a cult following.

I watched The Man Who Cried on TV and it was boring to me. Bleeech. From Hell, I only saw part of on TV and it was pretty bleeech. And Platoon was boring too.

The first Willy Wonka movie scared me to death as a child - the oompa loompas and Wonka himself just freaked me out, lol. I could deal with the blueberry child, but Wilder's wonka? *shudder* Noooo...mmm-mmmn, nada 😛

CATCF was actually how I first saw Johnny Depp (imagine that!). I saw the trailer and became fascinated by the pale guy with funny false teeth and asked my mom who he was, she introduced me to some other Johnny Depp films (Edward Scissorhands) and a friend got me to watch POTC and I was *HOOKED*!!!

I still love Depp's wonka to this day - he and Tim really elaborated the character, let you inside Wonka's world a bit more, you know? To me, it was just a better made, funnier and deeper movie overall. 🙂

The thing with me is that my love for Johnny is profound! So I could literally sit and watch any movie of his and be completely entertained simply by watching his different facial experssions! His movies are not boring to me at all...i guess the eye candy is enough for me! lol!

Love Him 😍

I'm hooked on that movie more than any other actually, more than Pirates of the Caribbean. I was also hooked on The Empor's New Groove, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000,) The Cat in the Hat (2003,) and all the Pixar type things etc.

I can see how anything be complete crap. Ppl need to learn to separate acting from who they are maybe.? As well as what the design means. That aside, it always does something to also go beyond one's expectations. At least I wish for happy actors who don't all seem to leave smug like the world is just all against them. They seem to know that they already won the part basically, and that at that.

There is no question that this movie is a success. It was made, and then it was a hit. It definitely draws well from the original. I'm in love very much with all the design of the original, all the non-acting is great. The acting is, as well, so completely cute and complex.

fox ...Yes it is very much along the lines of shows like Balto II: Wolf Quest, The Land Before Time VII: The Stone of Cold Fire, Atlantis: Milo's Return, and Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders. Which I believe draws from books such as Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, The Trumpet of the Swan, and The Cricket in Times Square.

In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I really liked the music. I was a music major when it came out but am not anymore. The acting was like another world.... drunk Unbelievable script, so easy to like remember. I loved the little girls, except supposedly they were rotten eggs or bad nuts.. The boys were also adorable. I think I really loved Mike Teavee. In the original I really liked Charlie. I liked him in this one, too, but like I was a culprit who was able to base my life somewhat on 1 sometimes. If I wanted to be one of the girls, I guess I would have to be Veruca Salt in either one. I love the hair and eyes of Violet Beauregarde, though. They almost seem the same. I was trying to reply on a cancelled "What do You want in the POTC forum?" that I did notice his aqua clear eyes.. Someone said they thought he should have violet contacts. Was that not the most memorable part..... And the part @ the goggles. I miss the ceiling. But I honesty don't have recollection of 1. Except like that it had a good boat scene, etc., and the girls, and boys, were really really funny....

Interesting @ the candy. I feel ppl eat candy too fast, but I feel Jelly Belly is very successful. I remember as a 9 - 12 yr old where we lived walking down the wall of Jelly Belly... 💃 I wonder what's up with Nestlé's The Willy Wonka Candy Company. It looks like Floop's Fooglies with Floop as Willy Wonka; it also looks like Steve w/ Blue's Clues. hoover

Disney World is a lot like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.... 🤣

Yeah! I finally meet 1! I saw Johnny Depp 1st in C&tCF, as well. Then, I saw PotC3 opening weekend.

I like both of them just as much actually. I think they did make a lot of changes especially to Willy Wonka. It's like everyone forgot about him now that he's simply so slick like a stick man actually.

I hope euro is not our next Willy Wonka.

youpi

For some reason it's hard to think @ the movie. There's so much to think/ PotC, The Emperor's New Groove, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000,) The Cat in the Hat (2003,) etc.

It is actually still funny the way ppl seem to always be thinking of Willy Wonka, and Jack Sparrow.. and sometimes Johnny Depp...

I still have on my list of movies to see Edward Scissorhands, etc. I really like Johnny Depp in C&tCF, as well. It is one of my favorites. It's just unbelievable, but he is over 20 yrs older.. wine

I really like the pale part, too, and the 'violet' contacts, etc. The colors he wore were pErFeCt!.!. 💃

Edward Scissorhands looks really good. I saw some great pictures! The other pictures I saw of him also looked quite perfect! I didn't get to see Sweeney Todd yet b/c I am sooo sick and trying to get better soon so I can audition for movies, but it also looks good..

I find C&tCF most bittersweet memorable and ever-echoing, but same for PotC. I'm sure similar w/ Sweeney Todd, but it looks hard to watch being rated R for violence. The only R movies yet I remember seeing on my own have so far been American Pie 1-4 and need to see 5-6 and The Passion of Christ.

To me PotC is a classic like The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady, The Brady Bunch, etc. It is so beyond anything one could ever hope for.. I'm excited to see what they do for the following sequel/s if they are not cancelled.

The blueberry child was a favorite of mine as well. I absolutely loved the bad egg, though.. Willy Wonka never really scared me completely for too long but maybe in a way. In 1, he didn't really scare me, either. But he is very very distant. I never really understood what he was. I thought of him as some sort of artist or something or a really creative character, someone bound for a funny farm for sure.

Yea, Burton is awesome. I was saying the producer of PotC is Jack Sparrow, pretty scary; I guess, scary to say, Burton looks like Wonka from 1: but also from 2..

(cont. (too many smilies))

One always likes to imagine lots and lots of kids in Wonka's shop.. And to decide what you would look like and act like and be and to see if you win something or at least escape rather alive.. blushing

They had to have the squirrels in it. So we have bad eggs and bad nuts, like female and male of course.

I don't know what was my favorite part. I'm pretty sure it was the affection for children combined with the good stuff. wine

The Man Who Cried I still want to see that.

I just saw From Hell last weekened. Not a great movie, but Johnny was hot in it. And he got in a bath tub. That counts for something. And I think his acting was spot on as always.

Now a bad Johnny movie is Private Resort. I watched that too. I rented it cuz I happened to spot it at the video store. My God there was absolutely no plot. All he and his pal did was run around naked trying to get laid and I saw so many boobs and butts in that movie...more than I have ever seen in most any other movie I have seen, lol. I was kind of surprised.

I actually liked The Man Who Cried. In a sense it's kind of like Chocolate where he appears half way into the movie and his part is not huge but is meaningful...a GyPsy!! *sighs* Ceasar! 😍

Ya when asked Johnny said he regretted making Private Resort and admitts to taking on the role to spite the image 21 Jump Street had given him! It was in his rebel days when he was taking on weird roles like in Cry Baby and Edward Scissorhands to get away from the teen Heartthrob image!

At Last! I saw Sweeney Todd and I love it!!!!!!!!!!!

Did Johnny say that Pirate Diva? That was funny. I get why he regrets it, definitely, lol

Congrats To Freedom! I love Sweeney as well. I anxiously await it's DVD release!

Any favorite moments? Favorite songs?

Yes, he always has spot on facial expressions. His facial acting in C+tCF is unbelievable in like every way. I'm glad to know it's "kinda hard to copy." My favorite part is still the 'violet' eyes and goggles. It's actually a h*** challenging movie I assume then.

Okay, know it's old as the hills, however. the movie The Libertine and this particular vidder just absolutely knocks me to my knees--

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nNhDIugaKw

the vidder is Lyttlewyng and what she/he does is quality odd and wonderful at one and the same time. Love the one, think it's true colors where she includes the Hello Beastie line to MMof Disney.

Oh, in Why, at or around 2:17-2:25 or so, one of the finest (and by that I mean got my ATTENTION) fingers/hands scenes in the world. The actor pictured is his wife and she is recounting the tale of how JD's character stole her from her wealthy family and eloped with her. They evidently have fond memories of the carriage ride to Gretna Greene.

I made two Sweeney Todd videos if you ladies are interested.

Unwell:

I Touch Myself (Mrs. Lovett):

If you have not seen the movie I wouldn't suggest the Unwell one because it has throat slashing.

Jack Love!!!

I love ALL the throat-slitting scenes with all that blood! I love Johnny's singing voice. I can't believe he can sing! My fave song is the Mrs Lovett/Sweeney duet near the beginning of the show when she showed him his barber tools (dunno the name of the song, hehe...). My fave scene is when Mrs Lovett fantasized about a married life with Sweeney. I thought Helena and Johnny had a good chemistry, but definitely NOT the sexy one between Keira and Johnny! LONG LIVE SPARRABETH!!!!!

I dunno I think Helena and Johnny's chemistry was just different. They managed to make very simple scenes come off as almost erotic. And considering this happened when Sweeney Todd as a person is pretty asexual, I think they deserve extra points, lol.
