Your statement is exactly my point. Those aren't just looks from certain people. They're feelings and ideas past down from generation to generation... instilled in the minds of millions... sometimes powerful millions. i.e. Corporation heads, Law enforcement, Presidents. Those powerful millions operate on those feelings (maybe unconsciously) .... and there you go. Oppression.
that is slowly (and i do mean slowly) being worn away by people actually getting out there and meeting people from other cultures...
I also think your statement is a cop-out...
😬 its not meant to be, not in the slightest...
I feel that it's possible to maintain our diversity and still see (and respect) each other as "fellow humans". It'll just take a massive amount of effort, the extermination of denial, and the willingness to change.
I have no problem with diversity, hell, anyone who knows me knows how open i am toward other cultures... but no matter how many people are willing to change, i don't think things will change within our lifetimes... which sucks...
Has it ever entered your thinking that maybe the conduct of these certain white males has always been inappropriate. Only now they find themselves in less of a position of domination, so they're being called on it.I don't call that "discrimination".
but what about the rest of us males who have done nothing wrong? do we deserve to get punished? i dont think so, and to me, it is discrimination... 😬
I don't think that's a really good example. There could be alot of factors at work there... and the fact that you didn't say "molest" and then got toss out on your ear makes it speculation.
c'mon dude... i'm not an idiot, nor do i make snap judgements... i wouldnt say something like the above statement if i didnt honestly believe it was true... 😬
in your opinion what would be a good example? honestly, i'd like to know...
I also don't think that only white people can be racist or discriminatory. Some of the most racist people I ever met are of color.
Totally, dude, i completely agree... and my incredibly long winded post tried to make that point at times...
But I actually think it's a different kind of racism. It's a side-effect of oppression. They see the police officer who don't come to their aid and harass them for no reason. They see the dirty looks when they walk down the street. They see the politicians that don't give a damn about them. They see the big houses up on the hill and they see the people that live in them. They see what color these people are. I don't think it's such a shock that they hold ill will towards white people.
dude... seriously... thats no justification to villify (sp?) a group of people numbering in the millions just because of the colour of their skin... yes, there are racist white people, but there are plenty who aren't... just like there are plenty of muslim fanatics, and there are plenty of muslims who are genuinely nice, decent people... every group of people has its bad and its good...
i just dont see why i should be treated badly because another man who just happens to be white is acting like a complete pr*ck...
I can tell you this.... I didn't know what race meant until I was called a n!gger. I was 6 years old and the person that called me that was the same age.
Dude... racism, as a whole sucks... and yes, i do have a talent for understatement... and i do know that from experience too... the racism part, not the understatement part... 😖
