Darkseid was never below DC Odin, really. He feared The Asgardians as a whole as he was unsure if he could defeat them, although after Odin was gone, he felt comfortable he could defeat them all. Once Odin was back, however, he implied Darkseid was more powerful, and Highfather seemed at least Odin's equal in power during Genesis.

Although, I really do wanna post some scans to counter the constant claims that Superman's had his number like every time. What will it take to get me "well known" so I can post scans?!?!? 😛

Actually, Darkseid and the Guardians had more of a mutual respect ... And I doubt a Guardian is as powerful as Odin. The point about 5-D Imps is that it shows Darkseid isn't a Galactus-buster or anything like that.

1. We DO know it's continuity. The New Gods' appearance in 52 and the upcoming Death of The New Gods are stated to be following this up
2. The whole "human" thing for The New Gods was an illusion of sorts. They were manifesting themselves in a way Shilo's mortal mind could comprehend, as an introduction. What he saw were essentially avatars. As Metron said at the end, "you have survived this first initiation into the mysteries of The New Gods."
3. That aspect of him -- Dark Side -- trapped Shilo in "synthetic lives" contained in the Omega Force. What he stated of it was that Shilo was being born, dying, and born again forever in Omega, each new life more degraded and hopeless than the last. From the looks of things, he created his own series of pocket realities (one of which included a world overrun by OMACs, and another which showed Superman and The JLA mourning dead members) with it. Ganthet used the very LAST of his power to create Kyles ring. The most powerful GL ring ever. The very Last of his power. That ring in the right hands can give anyone fits. Imagine Metron with it. I think a guardian is every bit a match for Odin. They are just punks. In the quintessence, The OAN, Shazam, Zeus, Phantom Stranger, and Highfather pretty much regard each other as peers. And each one of them is top tier Sky Father or higher.
The only thing special about Kyle's ring is that it lacked the yellow impurity. Seriously, none of those DC guys can match Marvel Odin's best feats, like in the Infinity saga. They're more on the level of Surtur or Zeus.

See what Superman says when he's being freed? You could argue that the reason he was unconscious on the Wall was because of the Wall itself, but as you can see, Darkseid stated that he was conscious and thinking of revenge while on the Wall. So either Darkseid's punch KOed Supes, or Darkseid remained conscious while on The Source Wall, whereas it KOed Supes. Either way, he comes off looking better.

He used his own strength. The only reason the suffocation worked, of course, is that Drax thought he still needed air when he didn't. It was psychosomatic. In any event, there is NO freaking way you can say Warlock is unbeatable in Soul World when Drax gave him such a tough fight.
