I think

To some degree, yes.

I agree we all make mistakes (sin). However, I find the obsession with this to be one of the bad parts of Christianity. If we focus on good, then good is what we will do.

This is the way it appears, but not the way it was intended.

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whaterver is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things."
Phillipians 4:8

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23

Much of the Bible talks about the things we should do, but people focus on what they should not do and thereby lose oppurtunity to do good and love others. By focusing on what they should not do they look too much at themselves whereas by concentrating on loving others they look outwards. And the latter is what we must strive for.

They say there are two types of evil:

People who DO evil, and people who SEE Evil being Done and DO NOTHING to stop it.

* i kinda agree...

"Whoever knows what is right to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."
James 4:17

I don't see the latter as being "evil". I am trained as a first responder, however, I am also trained to asses the danger, and to not attempt a rescue if it puts my life at risk. Am I evil?

* nope... it's what your heart dictates... if you did not try to stop something evil because it puts your life at risk, it's tolerable... but if your reason is you don't even care at all, i think there is a burden in your part...

"Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
John 15:13

And Lord Urizen, treat people like you would like them to treat you.

Ah, the Golden Rule 🙂

Rogue Jedi, I did not mean to make a factual claim about you and your Faith. Sometimes, I get carried away. However, it is pretty clear that your intepretation of the need for Satan is very out there, and NOT supported by the basis of your Faith, which is the Bible itself.

Sorry bro, but ur claim that Evil and Satan are necessities according to Christian Doctrine, is WRONG. Every other Christian on this forum agrees, and if a Christian agrees with me on ANTYHING, ESPECIALLY on the subject of Christianity, you know I hit the nail somewhere 😉

In order to talk about the subject of "sin" from my religion to yours, I have to find some neutral ground. A mistake is as close to what a sin is in my religion. Both your religion and mine differ on this topic. However, the importance of intent is the same between us.

are we talking christian doctrine or personal beliefs and opinions? i thought it was the latter.
i am not a biblical scholar, but i am far from clueless. so you think that my theory is way out there. fair enough. to me, you believing that jesus was nothing more than a revolutionary mortal man is way out there. fair enough?
i get carried away sometimes, so its cool. no hard feelings about that. sometimes FJ is like "just let it go!!!"......but you and i, both being men loaded with testosterone, know that is not possible sometimes.

Fair enough, but my beleif in Jesus just being a revolutionary man is an opinion with subjective basis, while your opinion that Satan and Evil are necessities are based on your Faith. Your Faith is based on the Bible, and the Bible does not agree with your conclusion.

Your intepretation is your right, but understand that it contradicts what the Bible says.

But then again the Bible contradicts itself all the time, and also I would rather you draw YOUR OWN] conclusions then rely blindly and entirely on the literal organization of the Bible.

AS for Testosterone..... droolio YYummmyy........

* it all comes down to the motive/intent of the person's heart... and if a mistake is as close to what a sin is, that only proves that NOT all mistakes are sins... but yeah, i agree that a mistake is very close to a sin... 😉

I misspelled a word the other day and had to repent for an hour. I won't make that mistake again...
Actually, I think many mistakes are far from sin. I am a strong believer in the motive being the determing point.

* how about: it's very close but not that close... 😉

Good enough for me.

Rogue Jedi did you even read my post concerning your theology on Satan being a needed evil?

A theory of your own reasoning is more preferable than a theory of your blind submission 👆

it is indeed of my own reasoning. my grandpa, a die hard christian to the day he died, would say "you have the right idea, just in your own point of view. not 100% correct, but close enough.

dont get you started on what? you like the sight of a muscular grown man ripping off his clothes and dancing around naked? 🙄
