the faithful bride...

I think they just took some of those plot lines and decided to draw them out over the trilogy, since they couldnt fit them all in one.

For instance, that Faithful Bride imagery from the pub... chained hands? AKA, this movie does not support marriage, but sees it as slavery/being tied down. Swans are birds, not meant to be tied down. In this script, Liz and Will share a kiss but they make no mention of a marriage. And that idea is shot down in 2 as well.

The idea of Jack turning around and saving Will and Liz... very apparent in 2. Barbossa's line about Liz stealing Jack's heart is also mirrored, though more by Davy Jones and Tia.

Liz is also seen more as a woman in this version of the script. Many lines in which they refer to her as a woman are changed to girl in the movie "the girls blood didnt work, did it?" that sort of thing. They cast Kiera younger than they thought they would cast someone. But she has aged between 1 and 2, and now they are able to incorporate a more womanly aspect of her.

And even in THIS script, Jack and Liz have ALL the chemistry, while Liz and WIll STILL Have none... 😄

okay another thought, sorry, this got my mind racing. plus i took a side trip to starbucks- 😉

back to the idea of the "faithful bride" perhaps they dont mean "bride" but they mean "faithful bride"... as in, perhaps she will marry Will, but still go after Jack?

i wish we had the original script for 2 as well.... oh gee....
this is so intense...

Well, i just watched some utube videos of Jackand Liz....Disney would be crazy not to put these two together....more Jackand Liz=More Money...More Money -= the reason you make sucessful movies....Jack and Liz are HOT...Will and LIz is boring... So Come On Disney give us what we want, whats' hott...what will keep us coming back for more....JACK AND LIZ

this line really scares me:

WILL
I can't believe he would make such
a sacrifice for us.

ELIZABETH
I guess you can never truly know
someone else's heart.

Will glances at her, and nods.

I think you can all see what this one seems to point to...
But the rest of the script, its seriously MAINLY liz and jack moments. its incredible.

Lovethemtigers i fully agree.... if Disney wants to be a success, they know who to turn to. Captain Sparrow.

And Willofthewisp, i love the part they changed so Jack's shot saved Elizabeth at the end. Because, Jack was going on faith that Will had the medallions ready- he wasnt sure, ya know? He just saw Elizabeth in danger and shot... to save her. and luckily the timing was perfect.

WOAH. this is so wierd. i wonder how they got a hold of this script. it makes so much sense now, the way they talk about it in the commentary and stuff. all the scenes they mention are here. i am SO EXCITED we can read this now!!!!

Where'd ya get it?

its also hilarious to read some of the lines and know that Johnny totally improvised and made up way longer versions for himself... 😄

but everyone always said they wrote the script about liz and will, and Johnny just ended up stealing the show...

in this version of the script, it still seems like Jack Sparrow is the focus. Will is hardly in it at all or something.

It was funny how at the beginning, when Will is making swords at night before the pirates attack, he was supposed to be shirtless. LOL.

And I still cant get over Barbossa's line to Jack. WHat's Jack's response? "I'll watch my back"... but he doesnt obviously... i wish they would have filmed that bit... i would love to see it.

but i suppose tia says essentially the same thing to him in 2...

i posted the link like 4 times on the first page. its the imsdb website.

oops, forgot

oh, that's great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NORRINGTON
Elizabeth, I'm" relieved you're
safe.
(re: Jack)
Clap him in irons. And behind his
back this time.

ELIZABETII
Commodore, you can't do that!

NORRINGTON
You're speaking up for him again?

ELIZABETH
He can locate Isla de Muerta --
but I doubt he'll be willing to
help us from the brig.

JACK
(she's right)
We had time to get to know each other.

LOL... wonder what THAT means... "we had time to get to know each other..."

Okay, its rather interesting that at the end of film 1, Jack is humming the song Liz taught him when he finally gets back on the pearl.

As in, he has LIZ on the brain, even then...

I know...I mentioned this on another thread a while back...that is a very significant thing...it looks as if he is thinking about her...he is singing the song she taught him..."I'll teach it to the crew....and we'll sing it everyday..."....and then he's like "Show me that horizon"....and then DMC starts off where we now know that Jack is confused, vexed...his compass isn't working for him because he wants Elizabeth, but he doens't...the forbidden fruit....he shouldn't want her, but he does...that's why he wants to stay away from her...because he's afraid of what might happen...and once she does show back up in his life...look what happens...it's as if Jack looses all sense of what he is after...he is bedazzled by her...

Also, interesting that Jack is holding that compass at the end of POTC...and then DMC is all about that darn Compass...The Compass...the story revolves around that thing....
"Where does it point"
"It points to the THING you want most in this world."

ITS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!! sorry, had to point that out

such good points. seriously.

what is the NEW thing that vexes all men (and women)?? WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN IN THIS FLIPPING MOVIE!!!!!!!!!

In this original script, Liz was also given a lot more gutsy lines---the adventuress she becomes in movie 2 was more apparent in this script... as in her line "heaving bosoms and bare ankles all the way"... its things like That which make me think a Liz/Jack ending must be coming... that they took themes from their orginal idea and stretched them out over a trilogy, so in the first one they could tie it up with a neat little ending, but when given the chance, they could bring back with full force all the more important ideas they wanted to play with... Like Jack really falling for Liz, and Liz getting her original wish (a pirates life for me).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! (conducts rousing Pirate chorus of Happy Birthday in the background)...

I wish i could send a bunch of pirates to your house for a party. LOL.

Have a great day of it!!!

thanx! 4 my birthday, i want Jack to come over!!!!

hahahaha. 🙂

Jack: Well dearie, I've heard its your birthday. Instead of singing you a song or getting you a present, i thought you might want to know all the secret endings of 3...

heheh then you could share and we would all be happy. LOL

My two cents- if a romance is going to continue in #3- it had to be built slowly... subtle. Liz is supposed to be a proper English lady. It is to be expected that she fall in love with someone suitable, and already her father has doubts about Will. Jack? Please... they had to build this tension in tiny bits and pieces to make it work because it is preposterous. If they had made the film exactly like these bits of script that are beeing shared, it would have been WAY too obvious that flames were igniting between Jack and Liz.

Happy Birthday, Ivebeendepped 🙂

The writers on the commentary for pirates 1 were saying that they wanted the movie to be a romantic pirate movie or something.. so yeah..
