"He said he was asked to refit a ship. It was heavily disguised, but he recognises a Jedi vessel when he sees one- though he did not know it had been effectively stolen from the Order; he thought it was just the same make. The man who owned the ship he described as having braided hair and wearing military uniform- SURELY your man Kuylen!
He says there were severasl of them all reuqiring the same modificatin- they wanted specialised long-range hyperdrives fitted to their ships."
"That could be difficult," says Moran. "Unless you have grounds for a warrant, he can refuse to see you at his own whim. Maybe if you made the request yourself? I am sure he would not refuse a Jedi Master another interview, not even a busy man like him!"
Grevor addresses the rest of you.
"The rest of you... why don't you find out what you can about Ascar in order to help Kellan? Talk to his contacts, check his record... he is quite a famous man, there must be some useful things..."
I'll need to know which of you actually want to see Ascar- this is a diplomatic job, so best not to take anyone who might snap if he lies to your face again.
"Okay, I'll head over to the ship to look into Ascars records" Mah said to the other Jedi. He went over and activated the comlink, and contacted the Temple. When he had contact he asked "Could you look up a bit on Ascars business lately so we might find out how he's become such a rich man, being an archaeologist."
"I'll follow mah to see if I can be of any more use there" I declared
"I think we can better hit the streets after this, cause someone like ascar must be a well known and well discussed figure. keep you comlink on Kellan, I'll yell when we found something" I said to Kellan
"May the Force be with you all"
bows and runs after mah
(quite fast for someone of his age)
Ok, Mah, you can run through the files.
To your surprise, you discover Ascar is from Coruscant. He settled on Malastare less than ten years ago. His record before then is a cacophony of comings and goings in and out of the Republic, most of which time he appeared to be penniless. He spend most of what money he had getting approval licenses from the Commerce Guild to get the artifacts he found into the Republic- it is a very restricted area. You are at first surprised to find he also holds a dangerous weapon permit- turns out it pertains to his lightsabre.
Turns out the sabre is some five centuries old and belonged to an old Knight. Of course, sabres are personal possessions- VERY personal. When this Knight died he willed it to his sister, and from there it fell into private hands, and onto the open market. He paid one million credits for it.
Now, Ascar apparently turned up on Malastare with a considerable lump sum of cash. The guess is that he sold a load of the stuff he had found for it. But after that point his wealth seemed to spiral up and up and up until he reached the position he is in today. And if he did sell his stuff, he must have had a STAGGERING collection because he still has loads, and has not done any archaelogy since he got his money and came to Malastare.
Mah, it seems a lot of people have accessed this file before, most of them being people from law enforcement. Seems a lot of people have had suspicions about Ascar. Maybe a check of law and judicial records would help?
