When you have animal instincts which let you sense certain changes in the enviroment...then yes you can anticipate the attack...for example a tidal wave...animals can sense vibrations that even humans can't sense...and get out of danger before it occurs...his heightened sense of smell...can pick up almost anyone..his hearing...makes him extra sensitive...etc He can even smell if people are lying...
In any event if his thought equalled action he would never get hit by lesser beings...but he does....and quite often...
Your scans above prove absolutely nothing. You have 1 scan of Psylocke being injured trying to probe Sabretooth's mind when she was plugged into CEREBRO. Of course she is going to hurt herself. Cerebro amplified her mental powers to the point that she hurt herself being exposed to his mind. Normally she is nowhere near that sensitive. Like when she fought Wolverine as Lady Mandarin.
Look at the description she gives of his mind....Beast like...they both let go of their humanity....she even comments on how hard it is to breach his psi-defenses hence the psi-blasts being deflected comment....
She gave no such indication that she couldn't read his thoughts in that fight. That is a complete fabrication on your part.
The only thing mentioned at all in that fight was Wolverine explaining why she couldn't predict him. (thought and action are 1) She obviously could read his mind since she says point blank that she was reading his mind. This fight had NOTHING to do with any animal instincts on his part. And if Wolverine's weapon X shields were so great then why is he constantly being overpowered by telepaths?
Probing is different to Mind Blasting...getting information of someone via probing is hard....mind blasting and subconscience reflex shut down has a completely different theory behind it...unless you're Cassandra Nova...most telepaths have a hard time probing him.
Claremont says what his powers are. Claremont said , that's how it is. And according to his own words and the word of the telepathic cuckoos he does not need to think before he acts.
In Warsong...she says
""Might have tried that yesterday, but you're not consciously thinking every time you strike.""
It means he's done it so often it's second nature to him....he strikes on a subconsciously level when in battle...but that doesn't mean his thought is action....she also says she's picking up information...suggesting that during combat with telepaths he disguises the outer parts of his conscience thoughts , which confuse telepaths..
How the hell is she going to hurt him when she's underground? My point is even if he's standing right in front of her his training is so rediculous he can hide in plain sight. She would not know he was standing there. Just like Nightcrawler didn't.
And I could provide just as many scans of her not phasing through adamantium, or being badly hurt doing it.
Um not really you read AXM #17 yet? Kitty has trained a year an a half now..she does not get knocked out by dense alloys anymore..it hurts her but it does not force her to go intangible....she figured how to by pass the spinning, shape-shifting alloy.
Your belief about Wolverine's thought process is wrong.Uncanny X-Men # 257:
Psylocke: "With my telepathy I know your moves before you make them."
ACTION: Psylocke misses a kick and then gets slashed twice before she can do anything.
Wolverine: "What's the matter Lady? Never fought a body to whom thought and action are one?"
Synopsis - Psylocke was in Wolverine's mind. She can't predict his moves. Wolverine says why.
X-Men: Phoenix Warsong:
Action: Wolverine and the telepathic Phoebe are stick fighting.
Wolverine: "Nice dodge. Reading my mind?"
Phoebe: "Might have tried that yesterday, but you're not consciously thinking every time you strike."
Action: Wolverine hits Phoebe with his stick.
Synopsis: Phoebe admits she has tried to predict his moves in the past, but it is futile as he does not need to consciously think to strike. [/B]
If that's the case then I believe Warsong just answered your question...Wolverine can disguise his thoughts....he doesn't need to consciously be aware that he's hitting someone..because it's so natural to him...it's like breathing...his thoughts occur at a subconsiously level. So if a telepath wanted to read his movements they'd have to look at a subconscience level...that's why Phoebe goes wait I'm picking up all kinds of new thoughts...add his resistance to probing and Weapon X resistance to probing and you have someone who's very hard to probe telepathically. A Mind Blast is a completely different story....
And again if he was capable of actually speedblitzing a person before they can generate one thought....he wouldn't get knocked out by beings whose reflexes are lesser...
