The Therapy Thread for stressed out people about jack/liz open 24/7

yea i agree with what both of u are saying kate/lovethemtigers

if wanted to make a will/liz ending they sure made a huge mistake for potc2 and alot of explaining to do. So they would not bother having a will/liz ship at the end, i mean hello its too risky. jack was not the hero in movie 2 he was just doing his thing and he was a hero for himself bc he got his engeance by killing barbossa and got his pearl back.

ratings will certainly go down if its suddenly will/liz. jak has become the hero in potc 2, and they/we dont certainly wanna see the hero ending the movie by himself and with 2 hores with stds.

I agree there is too much to explain! Something tells me that AWE is gonna be like a 3 hr long movie!

omg yea..plus the commercials that in my theater gives..damn they are 40 mins long, by the time the movie starts my ass is asleep.

oh gee.... i sort of hope it is longish, because i want them to put in all the good stuff they can.

like the 1st one, i wish they would have kept in the Peas in a Pod scene, even though that would have made the movie like a whole 45 seconds longer. LOL.

there is so much for them to pack in!!!! they have to introduce Jack's father and the pirate council, they all have to go to Singapore, rescue Jack, there has to be plenty of time for Liz and Jack to continue their fast growing relationship, Will has to team up with the bad guys and get EMO, lots of people have to die, and there has to be time for action and humor! lol.

and there be romance too!!

plus the answer on how barbossa got revived and why!?

to many questions, so many answers, so much time left for potc3

I dont mind a long movie!! As Long as i'm looking at Jack i'm grrreat!! LOL!!

Not toooo long lol

That CoUnTdown is still TORTURE!! LOL!!

yea loool but we can do it!! hopefully without killing ourselves

I just noticed how Jack tried really hard not to focus on Liz's lips in the curiosity scene too! 😂

not the part where she nearly kisses him..but the part where she first stands next to him..he turns to look at her and looks at her lips twice haha

I think I've finally figured out what the curiosty scene is all about..😂

oKay, LovelyOne..what do you mean..you finally figured out the curiosity scene???? I thought we already hashed this out...you mean there's more??

well..Its funny because I think Jack is talking about her being tempted to kiss him..as in she cant resist him..

then when Liz talks to him..I think she spots the fact he looks at her lips twice.and then there's the fact she saw him look at them earlier when talking about the compass showing what you want most..I think right here its like a battle of who will kiss the other first..who can tempt the other one more..

I'm not sure thats it..but there is something significant about the fact he looks at her lips twice IMO because its only after that where she becomes all "playful and tempting" to him

never mind..I dont think I'm making sense lol..I'm tired..

ok wait..basically he's telling her that one day she wont be able to resist kissing him

then she actually spots that he's having trouble keeping his eyes off her lips..and I think it also links in with when he looked at her lips whilst talking about the compass pointing to what you want most in this world..she saw it and blushed..and IMO she thinks he's more tempted with her than he's letting on..its like he's trying to say "oh you cant resist me..I'm Jack Sparrow" but he's got this whole little secret going on where he totally cant resist her.and I think she picks up on it and tests it out.and when he pulls away thats why she's dissapointed .I think she was excited with the fact that Jack Sparrow is possibly smitten with her and wants her most in this world (since when does he do that with women?)..and that he wanted her "most in this world"..so much so that he wouldnt take her honor into consideration when it comes to kissing her..

her look is like "I could have sworn you wanted me most in this world" 🙁

yes I understand...I definitely think he was having trouble keeping his mind off of kissing her and having sex with her...because we know that he is infatuated with her...thanks to Ted and his explanation of the compass....so, it makes it even hotter their scenes together....I love it.

With these two its not the sex and kissing that bothers them its the thought of possibly having feelings for one another that "vexes them"..and scares them..you would think Jack was only vexed over a woman because his feelings go deeper than sex..he has sex with many women and he's fine with it..he's vexed because Liz just wont leave his mind like other women do once he laves them..and he wants to have her in his life IMO..but is too afraid to make her an obligation.

Ted explained the compass doesnt point there for sex..it poins there because what you want most is that person or thing..I think..

also I think she says "why doesnt your compass work" as if she's wondering if it really does point to her when he looks at it because of that scene in tortuga where she saw that he looked at her lips when saying it points to what you want most in this world and when he appears to not want her most in this world..she looks dissapointed..If he wanted her most in this world he wouldnt pull away dispite her saying he's comproising her honor..and the fact he did.dissapointed her lol

You can see some to the interviews on youtube....and if you go to the other thread on this forum entitled something about Ted explaining the Compass on Keep To The Code....not sure of the official name of the thread.

Here is that posting from that thread which was started by Katelovespirates....

Ted Elliot talks about the compass on keeptothecode.com

hey, i don't know if this has been posted or not (if it has already then feel free to delete it..)
but i found this information on rottentomatoes.com
its basically a review made by Ted Elliot (one of the writers of POTC) in keeptothecode.com (the official forum for POTC?)

Ive heard about the writers visiting the official sites before...apparently it intruges them lol

anyway, he made some very interesting comments about he compass;

*************

I found this on the message boards at keeptothecode.com.....posted at 2am this morning by Ted Elliot:

"The reason we included the "Why is the rum always gone?" line was not just as a callback to the first movie; it was intended to remind audiences of the specific circumstances that it referenced, and so act as a cue to what Jack had on his mind: the woman who he was first attracted to and then infuriated with (or: the woman who Jack never would have been infuriated with if he had not been attracted to).

So, the deal with compass: Jack simultaneously wanted Elizabeth and wanted to be as far from Elizabeth as possible. Whichever of those he wanted most would cause him to immediately want the other more ... so the compass would not settle, swinging between "Port Royal" and "antipode of Port Royal" (which is sort-of-but-not-quite Singapore, btw).

(There was much debate about whether, in the first scene aboard the Pearl, to show the compass pointing in a specific direction and have Jack set course in the opposite direction, or to show it as it is in the movie. I think the first would have made it more clear to the audience that something weird was going on with Jack ("he's not going where the compass points? What's up with that?"😉, but the second is actually more demonstrative of his emotional state)(at least, that was the theory).

And, as long as I'm breaking silence on the compass, let me just say: there's no transference. If it points to a waffle, it's not pointing to the waffle because you're hungry or because you really want to be Belgian or something; it points to the waffle 'cause what you want most is that waffle.

Of course, if you've been hungry for a while, anticipating the most delicious meal you could ever imagine, and for some reason you couldn't partake of that meal, and then you found yourself in the presence of a very interesting waffle ... well, that doesn't mean that you suddenly think the aforementioned meal would not be delicious. It just means that, right then, that waffle seems pretty tempting.

Does that make you a terrible person?"

Here is another post from Ted Elliot about the real purpose of the compass...

**************

"don't want to interrupt your discussions (because, you know, we intended there to be a lot about the movie to discuss), but I'm curious about something:

I've noticed a number of articles and posts (here and elsewhere) that refer to the compass as pointing to your heart's desire. Of course, in the movie, it points to what you want most, which is a different thing (else it never would have pointed to the chest for Elizabeth).

Anyway, I'm just wondering where the "heart's desire" thing came from. Was that how it was described in Disney publicity materials? Or is it that how "what you want most" is being interpreted? Or is that how it "read" to people in the movie? Or a combination of those things?

(I'm trying to figure out if we somehow failed to define it clearly)."

Thanks,

Ted
