Yep, "negro" and "colored" are archaic terms just like "yellow" and "oriental", or even "redskin". I don't know anyone under the age of 50 who actually uses any of these words.

while it is possible to use these words as an insult, if some 80 year old guy says "colored" out of habit, its not a slur. a slur is a deliberate insult.

I know, ey. A lot of Black people over the age of 60 use the term "colored".

But my point was that at one time those above mentioned words were legitimate words used to describe people. In fact, in 1900 "yellow" was what Asians were called in the US Census. Now they're just common slurs.
