He learned how to get the things he wanted by being a pirate. I guess Jack didn't have an easy life, I see his character as a strong man, that has strive for the things he has and needs in order to survive life. Wich it wasn't easy in those times.
exactly!!! would we love jack more if he were a good man? no way. just like we wouldnt love liz as much if she stayed in corsets or whatever.
thats the beauty of these films... they've romanticized pirates in a new way.

No I don't think I would have enjoyed his character if he was a good and proper man. I think that being the way he is was what made many people fall in love with this character. The same thing goes for Elizabeth, if she would have stayed that way, she would have been a boring and pointless character. I love this movie because it's showing you how they are evolving and growing and turning in to something else. It shows you that people change, sometimes for good or bad reasons. And the movie is showing you things that you wouldn't expect the characters to do. Thats why I think everyone fell in love with the idea of J/L being together, because that wasn't expected. I bet everyone though of it, but nobody ever expected it to happen.
Once again, my two cents.
I wont say who dies or who doesnt die or who does or does not have children. Let's say WIll does die or goes away. We cant Automatically assume that means that Liz will end up with anyone else.
Another point that has to be made about Jack is that he IS a Pirate. A thieving, smelly, untrustworthy Pirate. Does that make him Evil? Not nessesarily. Barbosa even told him that the reason he lost the Pearl was because of his conscience. Does he have it in him to kill a man for being to slow in unfurling sails? Maybe. We have to remember that Jack isnt quite right in the head. He is missing a few screws.
And is Will doesnt continue in any POTC movies past 3 it is most likely because he doesnt want to. Not because producers want to 'cut costs'. That's utterly ridiculous.
Odysseus is a combination of the self-made, self-assured man and the embodiment of the standards and mores of his culture. He is favored by the gods and respected and admired by the mortals. Even the wrath of Poseidon does not keep him from his homecoming. He is confident that he represents virtue even when a modern audience might not be so sure. He is also a living series of contradictions, a much more complicated character than we would expect to find in the stereotypical epic hero. We can contrast Odysseus, for example, with the great warrior Achilles in The Iliad.
Odysseus, in The Odyssey, is much more complicated. He lives by his wiles as well as his courage. He is an intellectual. Often he openly evaluates a situation, demonstrating the logic he employs in making his choices. When it proves effective, Odysseus lies (even to his own family), cheats, or steals in ways that we would not expect in an epic hero. Although he is self-disciplined (refusing to eat the lotus), his curiosity is sometimes the root of his trouble (as with the Cyclops). He is willing to pay a price for knowledge; for example, he insists on hearing the Sirens’ call, even though to do so, he must have himself excruciatingly strapped to the mast of his ship so that he cannot give in to the temptation. Odysseus can be merciful, as when he spares the bard Phemius, or brutal, as he seems when dealing with the dozen disloyal maidservants. He creates his own code of conduct through his adventures. He is deeper than Achilles, more contemplative, but still capable of explosive violence; he is almost certainly more interesting. It is easy to see why some critics like to call him the first “modern man.â€
I think Elizabeth has a few screws loose in her noggin. That look of hatred she gave jack when she chained him up and then almost kissed him again? she's demented I swear lol. she killed a man because she saw him as a tempting threat..crazy
I would say Will was Achillies/Telemacus
and I'm blabbing about the Odyssey/Illiad similarities to PotC again sorry
Odysseus did something to Penelope that questioned her trust in him. But she still remained faithful..my hopes are high!! 😂
lol
true.
If there is a kid I bet its Jack's because of that "apprent sex scene" between the two that Gore was trying to "slip in" there but ran into some trouble with Disney
I heard that scene with the child had been "cut" though..."LONG ago"...
i can imagine them taking it into 4 if it is a Jack/Liz thing that is.
I'm guessing if Jack shoots the guy for being slow with the mast in anger or what ever then Elizabeth will start to tell him off and then Jack will let slip of what she did to him and that is probably what that HUGE scene is about where they are all standing on the deck of the pearl discussing something...all the characters that is.
Thing is. I can imagine them making it so Jack/Liz are further apart at the end because if they are doing a 4th with the two..they can start again without Will there..
I heard movie 4 was a "reinvention" rather than a "continuation"
So are they gonna do the story between Jack & Liz they always wanted to do but couldnt because Jack was firstly a risk to add..thus the straight man was added to balance things out..now he's out of the way can they do it with no worries?
BRILLIANT i Swear THATS WHAT IVE BEEN THINKING t and t wanted to have the sappy love story and with four i think we will get that with a possible twist lol , sense it is pirates of the Caribbean. I think in four it will like one of those " and the princess and the prince lived happily ever after endings unless they decide to continue.
PotC 4 I'm talkin bout here
I'm still convinced Elizabeth's heart belongs to Jacky boy...
even if movie 3 doesn't end Jack/Liz and Liz on her own...I can kinda see that happening because of her similarity to Penelope in the Odyssey..IMO it wont mean she has decided to get Jack out of her life for good. He's still very much her true "husband" "lost at sea"

Glad I amuse you so much. 😉
But when Jack makes off with something valuable of yours like say...most of your money and you can't pay for food, I think you'd probably be a little peeved.
No one's life is 'easy'...that doesn't mean that you can go and steal from others to support yourself. If you found some stranger sitting in your family room, eating your food, and using your credit card to buy (expensive) stuff on-line, are you going to tell him it's ok because he's had a hard life, and sure, he can take all he wants, and give nothing back?
I somehow doubt it.
It's rather similar to Jack Sparrow. Without someone there to be a foil to Jack, the movies will flounder. His character is so exhausting that he NEEDS that more noble, righteous character there to support him.
And I don't think J/E make a good couple simply because they are both self-centered and piratey. In all but perhaps two short moments on the screen, Elizabeth is annoyed, angered or exasperrated at Jack Sparrow. I don't think that shows any sign for any stable sort of relationship.
I also don't believe for a moment that they were going to put a J/E love scene into the movie...mainly because J/E will NOT happen. It was a flirtation...Elizabeth is attracted to Jack, yeah (who isn't?), but she LOVES Will.
Now IF they make a 4th movie (I think they're pushing it even by thinking about it), perhaps an Elizabeth/Jack love would work out...but they'd have to make Will's death/disappearance meaningful and logical.
As far as the scene with the child, I don't think that Elizabeth went off to make a love child with Jack OR Will. More than likely there is a scene with a marriage and a logical jump forward in time that would account for a child.
A love scene does not mean OMG!J/E!!!! It could be Tia/DJ, W/E, E/Pirate Guy, J/Tortuga Wench....in this movie, it could be anyone. Besides, I heard that they have indeed filmed a 'love scene'...one of several. I don't think it's going to turn into a smut film filled only with trappings of J/E.
