he's alot smarter and clever than he's given credit for,
IM just plays stupid, that's how he's written, cause he can do anything and gets bored,

We then learn that the "blue ball" he carried around was actually a pocket reality.

It was later dimished to the size of a Planet, existing now on the other side of the 616 Sun.
