I noticed that the majority of topics in the religion forum center around Christianity and its God. God gets either praised or bashed, and Jesus gets either idolized or made fun of.

Well what about SATAN ?

Why are thier SO FEW THREADS dedicated to him ?

I think there needs to be a BALANCE. We have lots of Christians promoting God's word....we have lots of Athiests and Agnostics ignoring God's word, but we dont have ANYBODY speaking on behalf of the good ol' devil.

Im gonna be mature with this thread and say, I disagree with Satan and his moronic, sinful, bad deed, religion. It makes the most chaos and as much destruction as Atheist do.

Atheist cause chaos? Last time I checked people weren't killed over different views of atheism, wars weren't fought over atheism, people weren't persecuted over opposing atheistic beliefs... Religion/Belief in God(s) is a major cause of chaos and atrophy as much as it is order and restoration.

Or the other way around; more people have died for God. Either way you look at it, there will always be those extremist who call for blood to equate with faith.

IIRC satan, by its etymology, simply means "adversary", a concept rather than an individual.

If you're referring to Lucifer. The story really puts god in a bad light rather than Lucifer. It's basically an allegory conveying that to defy authority or to strive for more than you are is bad. And IMO defiance of authority isn't always bad, and to strive to better oneself isn't either. If one even looks at the name Lucifer, it basically means "bearer of light", why name someone who's to be the embodiment of all things bad so contradictorily.

Salem Witch Trials, Crusades, Spanish Inquisition, and near Native American extermination are examples of atrocities where innocent people were tortured and slaughtered in the name of God. And that's only from the Christian side...i didnt even mention the amounts of innocents that have been slaughtered in the name of Allah and Yahweh from Judaism (all supposed to be the same God)

The amounts of people that have been killed in the name of Satan is farr less than those who have been tortured and killed in the name of God.

Secondly, still considering numbers, only 22 [recorded] deaths were accounted for in the Salem Witch Trial (even though I am defending the puritan religion). And so the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition (~700 years) can not account, or fully surmise thereof, 2,000+ years of religion.

Indeed, and that was a powerful concept in many early religions - accept you place in the scheme of things. Try and buck the order and you'll burn - which is a nice way of keeping the unhappy, starving masses in order, if they think it is a sin to try and improve their lot it will insure they don't rebel and cut of your head.

Still Lucifer is a fascinating character in literary terms. His portrayal in fiction is often more interesting and engaging then those of "pillars of virtue" - often as Lucifer is more human, and villains, intelligent villains, are often more explorative of things like the human condition.

There is a reason why Inferno is still the most read part of Dante's Divine Comedy.

Ummm.... first of all so called "Satanists" are no actually attributed to any real criminal activity.

While it isn't completely unknown for a criminal to scrawl so called "satanic" symbols at a crime scene more often then not these have no real historical or mythological grounding and are merely stupid teens thinking they do - over used symbols like pentacles and the like with no understanding of the symbolic relevance - they simply think, due to mass media, it represents something more.

Unless you have some sort of statistics to support the claim that Satanic religion is linked to chaos and destruction I suggest you refrain from making such statements, or linking them to Atheists. And of course if you do people will feel justified in listing in great deal the chaos and destruction that can be attributed to every major religion.

I think "I made a typo bif deal" is referring more to Satanic ritual abuse vs. Satanism.
