I think it's stupid, really. Having the Judicial, Executive and Legislative power of government all vested in one body (Parliament)?

That's just asking for trouble

Unless you're Bavarian... then the German political system is well um... sh**. It's funny how northern and southern Germans despise each other... just like home. lol

Every country has something about themselves to be ashamed of... in the past we have pointed it out and mocked them accordingly... well now it's our turn, so toughen up..AND TAKE IT LIKE A MAN! 😄 Don't worry we will get our turn again.

That is not true. Although I do happen to be Bavarian. The German system as such is not shit. It is rather fair and it is free. That the majority of people are still idiots that won't vote for a decent party is something you have to accept in a democracy. Also, I personally do not despise Northern Germans, sure we make jokes about Prussians and such, but I wouldn't say it is hate.

Your second paragraph sadly remains a mystery to me. Except if you are a US Citizen and were just generally replying to the thread and not to me.

I believe that was the case

I like my government and you like yours.

That's all this thread is coming down to right now.

You can like your government. I am just saying that two party systems are less democratic ..regardless of any real life example.

You're correct Bardock, I am an American and I was replying to the thread in general on that second line... and i am glad you don't hate the northerners but come on... not even alittle? I mean it's not like Bavaria volunteered to unite with Prussia.

No, not even a little. And that happened...let me check...130 years ago....I don't hold grudges over 5 generations I am sure there are some that have ill feelings, although I suppose they are all in a more playful manner. I am wondering why you think that the German System of government is a failure though?

Info I read when Edmund Stroiber ran for chancellor... saying a Bavarian would have a tough time being elected chancellor being CSU, catholic, "different" etc... Plus, random readings of European literature have from timed to time mentioned there has always been a sort of feeling among northern Germans that they are better then southerns. Your responses have indicated that I'm not completely off base, but hey you live there not me... lol

Back to the thread... In the past nations abroad have made a distinction between US citizens and the foreign policy of the US gov't. Now we are being identified as one in the same. But there is more to this then just the current admin (who i dislike b/c they were stupid 4 invading Iraq) but a more fundamental dislike and rejection of what is considered "American" like our brand etc...

Okay. What is the point? Actually, what are you trying to say? That Northern Germans do not like Southern Germans? Even if that was true...which I personally did never experience, what would that imply. To ask it simply...what is your point.

How do you figure that?

Well, if it is true (which you say it is not) then your political system is not fair and does not represent everyone. But since you live there and have indicated this is a false presumption on my part; then your political system is fair... um unless you're a Turk... sorry i couldn't help it.

Why? Even if it was true. It would represent everyone. Everyone has a vote. Everyone can vote for the party they want to have power? What does a possible dislike between two regions change? And if that's true, what about the cultural differences in the US. I mean there's actually a North-South thing going on.

And even if you are a turk our political system is fair. If you are a Turkish citizen you don't get a vote as you are ..well..not a citizen. If you are a turkish German you get to vote like veryone else on any party you would like.

An in depth reply to my post would have taken your boredom for a few minutes. As it is now I can not help you as I have to retire for the night. Fare thee well.

And you know as well as i do that the "democraticly elected government" buisness is all bullsh*t. So don't try to pass it off as "We voted for him, so it's our fault to."
Technically the American citizens voted for him not once, but twice. They also granted control of the House and Senate to his party. Which in turn have allowed him to impact the judiciary.

On top of all this no moves have been taken to impeach him and remove his Administration on grounds that they lied to the nation and continue to lie to the nation, in order to wage a war. While Clinton was impeached for lying about getting a blowjob.

You make it sound like it would be easy to prove Bush lied and it would not be. The guy is like Teflon, not much would stick, he and his party know how to keep themselves technically clean.

As of March 6th 2004, from a report prepared from the House Government Reform Committee:

President Bush made 55 misleading statements about the threat posed by Iraq in
27 separate public statements or appearances.
Of the 55 misleading statements by President Bush, 4 claimed that Iraq posed an
urgent threat; 14 exaggerated Iraq’s efforts to develop nuclear weapons; 18
overstated Iraq’s chemical or biological weapons capacity; and 19 misrepresented
Iraq’s links to al Qaeda.

On October 7, 2002, just days before the October 10 and October 11, 2002,
congressional votes on the Iraq war resolution, President Bush gave an address in
Cincinnati, Ohio, about the threat posed by Iraq. In this speech, President Bush
made 11 misleading statements about Iraq, the highest number of misleading
statements in any single appearance by any of the five officials. In this single
appearance, President Bush made misleading statements about Iraq’s nuclear
capabilities, Iraq’s efforts to procure aluminum tubes, Iraq’s chemical and
biological capabilities, and Iraq’s connection to al Qaeda.
Some of the misleading statements made by President Bush included the
following:
• “On its present course, the Iraqi regime is a threat of unique urgency. . . .
It has developed weapons of mass death.”110
• “The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought
significant quantities of uranium from Africa.”111
• “The liberation of Iraq . . . removed an ally of al Qaeda.”112
• “We found the weapons of mass destruction. . . . [F]or those who say we
haven’t found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons,
they’re wrong, we found them.”1
