Will is Hot

The movie made it to 1 billion because of ONE thing? J/L? Like I said before, The Pirates of the Caribbean theme is known world wide and has been around for 40 years. The first movie was a huge success and just being a Pirate is every kids dream so it can relate to people of all ages. You people must be insulting T&T by saying that the movies ONE redeeming quality is the Jack Liz thing. I personally dont disagree with the J/L theme. They had some great moments and strong chemistry in the movie but the movie made 1 billion because it was a , fun, entertaining, brilliantly directed and superbly acted movie

the first movie got 360 million thats not a sniff next to 1 billion

Pirates life fo..I'm not saying its success is based on J/E...I'm saying its based on Jack being the leading man,,and doing things that a leading man does in a movie which is having a romance revolve around them, being the hero, having the story about him, and from AWE he plays second fiddle in those respects?? this is "wills story"..thats what I mean here..the audience wont like it IMO

It basically feels to me like they have made Jack look like a hero and raised a level of expectation for movie 3, we now expect to see him win out over Will but instead they make him the false hero and it becomes all about Will Turner..

.they should have never made J/E appear to be going somewhere on screen..because by doing this they make Jack appear to be the hero not Will Turner. I feel that is the biggest mistake because it seems as if Will is going to be the one who is the hero..and Jack is the zero

are the audience gonna like that?..seeing what could have been their favorite character's story but instead it turns out to be Will's?

It's not 'all about Will Turner'. You guys are already discounting the movie based on rumors. It's still half a year away. Have faith. That is all I have been trying to say here for the past 2 months. Once you see the movie, then come back and say 'It sucks' or 'I hate Disney now' or 'I wasted money on it'. Done pay attention to rumors. Have faith in T&T and Gore and the cast. Have they let anyone down too badly yet?

I dont think it will suck..but I just dont know how people will react...I have to admit when I first heard about Jack leaving with two whores that have no real contribution to the story at all I was shocked after what I had seen in DMC where he is the hero..I'm sure it was Liz he was saving on the pearl unless it was a whore grabbing onto his leg whilst there was a halo of light depicting Jack as a god to her??

I basically just feel the main mistake made was to make Jack appear to look as if he is the typical hero and does things a typical hero does for example get the girl, have the romance based on him because now the public expect the hero to win out over everything

People now view jack as the rightful hero of the story instead of being thepirate god just placed there whilst someone elses love story unfolds infront of him and if he leave with two whores and has no love story based around him?? I just dont know

Its like movie 3 of spiderman..he left without MJ and wen off with 2 whores..it would...be weird..people wouldnt settle for that and the movie would not be a winner

but in movie 3. the second fiddle gets his story where the romance revolves around him, the most heroic moment..the happy ending..its just weird to me for some reason...doesn't make sense

People obviously loved Jack the hero not Jack the coward with no reason to exist.

Not to mention, when they talk about this movie being Will's movie, they're talking about it in terms of his development as a character. The first movie was Elizabeth's movie, and look at what it revealed--Elizabeth has a pirate streak in her that became more prominent in the second movie. And even though it was Elizabeth's movie, it wasn't strictly her show. AWE will be about how Will grapples with the changing world around him and how that effects his character. It doesn't mean the other characters will take a back seat.

And who says Will's development will be positive? If anything, the changing events of DMC will have a very negative impact.

Will: Elizabeth, it's just too much for me. I can't handle the moral ambiguity here. I'm growing my hair out and going back to Middle Earth.

Im curious why everyone has branded Will a coward? What has he done that can be considered cowardly? In the first movie he searched out and went into the pit of hell (the pirate's cove) to find and save his love. In the second movie he snuck aboard the Dutchmen to steal something from the most powerful and ruthless Pirate on the seas. Once again to save his love.

And CotBP actually made about $655,000 worldwide. Not everyone saw that one in the theatre because they didnt know how brilliant it would be. People that didnt see it until it came out on DVD made a point to see the 2nd one when it was still in theatres

It's not that I think Will is a coward. He just doesnt strike me as very dangerous.

Will is always too late to save the girl in movie 1..

Jack is far more deseving he has always been there when she needs it the most.

And also remember that Will's character is there to be the young love interest to the Elizabeth character. And he isnt scary and dangerous unless he has to be. He isnt a Pirate. He is a sword smith that was thrown into an adventure. The character may appear reluctant compared to Jack Sparrow but he should be. Jack's life is adventure and searching out the next great thrill. We have to remember that he is as good with a sword as Jack even though he hasnt been doing it near as long. He even beat Jack in their fight if you ask me. Jack had to resort to pulling a gun.

Will is the best swordsman..then norrie then Jack is the last lol

Elizabeth isnt exactly a port Royal girl though is she? She's a pirate at heart too

he was the love interest but I just dont understand why they have used jack as a spanner in the works?? Why use the franchises fave character as a tool to make W/E realize they love eachother so much..People are gonna expect Jack to win her and be the love interest because they like him more than Will Turner.

Well you cant say that is all they are using Jack as. It's just one of the many themes of the movies. It's another conflict the characters are facing to spice things up a bit.

yeah but why base a whole movie on Jack being the hero for Liz and then expect people to just accept all of that as being a thing thrown in to spice things up in a W/E relationship??..I can understand it if they made it so W/E sort of resolved something by the end of DMC but they didnt. It ended as if Elizabeth loved Jack and Will let her go because of that...they made it seem serious..as if they tricked us...thats how I'm feeling anyway..its got peoples hopes up on a large scale and they are gonna come crashing down

Dont get me wrong. Jack is easily my favorite characters. Depp's portrayal of Jack Sparrow has got to be one of the greatest characters ever IMO. He is a tragic hero though. Things arent always going to go his way. He isnt going to find the treasure, get the girl and sail off into a beautiful sunset with the best ship. In my humble opinion I dont think they should. I just cant picture Jack with a girl like Liz personally. Sure there is respect there for her after she tricked him and he calls her Pirate. He just seems to me like the type to me to sail into a port and find a buxom wench.

I didnt say a tragic ending. He is a tragic hero as opposed to the great to the typical swashbucklers. He is no Robin Hood. He is a Pirate. He may not be a vicious Pirate like Davey Jones or Barbossa but he is a Pirate

Jack didnt actually leave movie 1 with nothing but the horizon on his mind. I think most people missed it but he appeared to have Elizabeth on his mind so he did leave learning something new..and didnt leave exactly the same as he came in.

I find it weird how we apparently see that W/E are gonna be safe and sound in the future, but jack?

did he perish like Beckett said he would?

Beckett said he would have to change to suit the new world or he will perish...maybe that change was becoming more like a pirate but pirates are gonna die out no matter how much of one he is...

did Jack die out or did he find a reason to exist once everything about the pirate life was taken away?? there has got to be some closure there lol
