LOL! Dude! That's hillarious. You did know that it was actually Gore's intentions to make this movie the complete opisate of what we were expecting?
Don't kill me and this is not bashing, but Johnny had something to do with it too. As much as I care about him, him, along with the cast, screwed up the plot for AWE.
Johnny and Gore wanted to make Jack completly the same. Having an unfinnished script, "the team" decided to take advantage to it and add crap in it while TnT, were against in a lot of what they were doing. Now, they are not innocent, they are just not guilty in all accounts of the worse trilogy ever written 😛.
Oh I totally agree with this...I've known all along..although I tried to stay postive as you encouraged us...but I figured Johnny wanted Jack to end up exactly as he did....
i can see it gonna going like this..
t and T: johnny...the audience loves Jack and Elizabeth as a couple, we are going to go for it..
JD:. well, when I was first approached to do this film, i was told that jack was free spirit and there would be no love interest...great, let's do it...
t and t: but the audience would like to see j/e together, it's totally unexpected and unpredictable...
johnny: well, I refuse...when I agreed to play jack sparrow there was to be no romance involved...i'm not the "hollwoood" lead type hero...I think Jack Sparrow is better off alone, free and forever chasing after the unattainable..
I totally agree lovethemtigers. Although I would have *loved* to have seen a Sparrabeth ending, I think Johnny would have been really uncomfortable with doing any more romance scenes with Keira. He said it was really awkward to do the sparrabethy scenes, so I wasn't so surprised that we had a whelpabeth ending.
Not better for any of us lol. Only for those who feed on misery 😛. *Cough*...anyone know who Im talking about? lol 😄.
Anyways, AWE left me completely stupid. All this time, we thought of seeing Jack Sparrow in that different direction was on the contrary on what he is now. It turned out to be the same crap.
And the CGI. Oh, brother. Don't get me started with the CGI. OK, they were "ooh" and "aah", but it does not cover up the plot holes. They should've spended more time on character writing than CGI.
Instead, we got a Tiazilla on the loose or Tia Kong. Sad, very sad.
Yeah that would have been great!! I'm not sure a FULL Sparrabeth ending would have worked you know?? Maybe just have Liz and Jack sail off together on an adventure and leave it to our imagination what happens next...will they hook up or not?? That would be up for us to decide.
I agree with Tigers and Mina about how Johnny and Gore saw the character and didn't want him to turn in to a romantic hollywood lead (although we all know that wouldn't happen)
But I don't know why I feel that T&T were WE all along. I think if given the oppertunity they'd give us a lot more JE moments but not an ending.
I don't know T&T personally but I've heard enough from them in wordplayer to know that they always say what they feel. If they felt that Sparrabeth is the right thing they would come out and say it.
Even if their opinion would hurt Gore and Johnny they would say it (I've seen them do it many time about other things 😄) and from what I saw in the commentary and wordplayer their decirion was made up all along.
Not saying Johnny and Gore didn't change it around for the worse (cause they probably did) but T&T probably wanted a WE(or open) ending and definitely a different ending for our Jackie boy.

I think that the treasure disapeared when the Isla de Mueta (sp?) sunk back into the sea, so thats why they couldn't use it - I believe they mentioned it in DMC. However, I wish they could have!

np, joanjoan.
Sometimes I wonder if everyones attraction to Sparrabeth is not only the fact that we think the personalities of Jack and Lizzie are perfectly matched, but that we (possibly deep inside) want Jack to have a female companion that is perfect for him - possibly because we want to be that companion. IOW, maybe some think that since we can't be with Jack, we want the next best thing: Lizzie.
Sorry for rambling, just a random thought that popped up. Not sure if it even makes sense or if I agree with it!
Makes sense....that's probably right...I so wanted to see the infamous Pirate jack Sparrow be vunerable with a woman...and yes, we can picture ourselves, and since it can't be us, we wanted it to be the next best thing, Lizzy. Jack and Elizabeth....I mean, why did they put so much effort into proving how very much alike they were and how they met the criteria layed out before them that they brought forth in the Curiosity conversation to be left with nothing......
so, I've said this before somewhere....but Suppose you had never seen COTBP and DMC..and then you decide to go see AWE with no prior knowledge....you would not even know that Jack and Liz had anything between them...so at the end when she comes out with that line "it would never have worked out between us".....you would be like "what the heck, that was from out of the blue"....and it pretty much was based on what transpired between them in AWE......
I just honestly think that when Johnny was approached to play Jack Sparrow he agreed to play the Jack Sparrow that we saw in POTC - COTBP...so .....I don't think Johnny felt like his character should end up with Elizabeth....that's just Johnny.......He just felt like he was too old for Keira...to be paired with her...."father time with his arm around a seventeen year old girl.......poor bastard he actually thought he had a chance to get lucky with her" and Johnny and Gore laugh like as if that's the funniest thing ever..jack getting elizabeth.....
