Sparrabeth

Miz LovesTT, the shot of her looking up to Jack's face, lordy that is no little girl anymore--she is quite full of herself to be approaching him so. What a merry little dance the marriage/curiousity speech scene. She flat kisses him to, he makes no move to her other than providing the perfect palette for the artful kiss.

You have made me wildly pleased to have posted the dock shot! Collateral fondling--major free form touching--he knew even if she didn't have much of a clue.....ta dearie, I'm panting in the corner with ImpPiDiva.

Miz Pir8XRo, my day...greatly improved by the pics and your query--love ya.

Agreed with Smexii Texxy over here; LoveTT those pictures are wonderful and captures the emotions that we sometimes overlook in the movies.

🙂 Glad your day went alright. I'm still sick 🙁

Ooh, is it tragic? I don't know if I could handle a tragic sparrabeth right now. I'll give this a try, though, because I trust your judgment and excellent taste, PirateDiva! And the pictures put me in the mood...

All just beautiful. I think it really shows just how big an influence Jack was on her when she's at the beginning of AWE, capturing that guy from behind just like Jack did to her, displaying all her hidden weapons, and standing up to Sao Feng. He's really rubbed off on her, especially in parlay when she's the one "selling people out" to further along her plan. And I think even though he missed a lot of that since he was in the Locker, Jack sees she's grown up quite a bit and admires that.

EXACTLY..this is why TMaria and I are working on a new video called "Taking Over Me" by evanescence...and I just hope we can catch the essence of what is Jack and Lizzy...how Elizabeth evolved throughout the trilogy to be just like Jack..."we are very much alike, you and I, i you, us..." Just as Jack told her that day on the Pearl......."one day you won't be able to resist".....wow, who could with they smoldering looks that man can give a woman!

That will be a great video. I know who to come to when I want to request ones now.

lol one of my sparrabeth videos is video of the week on some foriegn sparrabeth website. Thats so weird and awesome 🙂

NO words are needed!

so true... no words needed... oh my word, that first picture drives me crazy, its so glorious... could two people be any more perfect together?

again..just look at the pictures:

i simply cannot get over Jack's face in the parachute scene. it's insanely intense--- he is such a darn good actor, you see every passing emotion on his face, its amazing. it's like, he's saying goodbye to everything he wanted, and once again angry at the good man inside him that caused him to do what he did.

You know, the more I see it, the more I wish the cinematography was different for their kiss. Don't get me wrong, we see A LOT of revealing, passionate expressions that are just priceless and wonderful, but we hardly even see their faces at the same time until they break apart. Can you imagine how crazy we would have been if they had filmed it the same way they filmed her kiss with Will in AWE? That was a full circle and you could see both of them very well and how they merged with each other. It's a cinematic orgasm they didn't dare risk. Sigh.

Kate, I never though that Jack was thinking anything other than, "Jeez, poor Will. I hope what I did works" because he seems very concerned about him after they land and he has a happy, confident look on his face when he sees Will is okay. It is an interesting thought that he is looking at it regretfully. He's never going to be able to get rid of that little angel Jack that tells him he is much more snuggly and cute than he wants to be.

Oh wow. That last parachute one completely broke my heart. Look at their faces...

*stunned silence*

haha i think i interpreted the parachute scene after seeing how Jack blows up at Gibbs and Barbossa a second later on the pearl--- strangely, i never really thought he doubted that what he did with Will would work. maybe its the editing around the "cutting out of will's heart" moment or something-- i always got it as, "well, i've done the right thing again, i've got to get elizabeth to safety or it will be for nothing."
maybe i ought to go back and watch it again.

gosh, I'm so sad today.....I really wanted Sparrabeth. I wanted so bad to be so in love with AWE....and instead...I've only watched it one time...I guess that's why I enjoy the Sparrabeth vids so much...they give us what stupid Gore refused to give us.....and he refused to listen to one of the terrible t's when they tried to tell him about the interest and passion for jack and elizabeth...all he cared about was the "BIG and Better" pirates wars!

but when you think about it, is it possible they could have given us a satisfactory J/E ending in film 3? I dont think so. they had too much plot to get through, too much battle. they barely pulled off W/E, and left gaping character and plot holes to do it. So try to imagine them cramming W/E resolution and then a proper J/E into the film. i don't think they could have done it, not without totally changing the whole plot. either way, it would probably have been mildly disappointing--- because they would have had to play it off certain ways to get past the producers and the mouse, and it would probably have ended up being fairly vanilla.

thats what i say to cheer myself up, anyways. some things really are better left to the imagination.

Well, how long is AWE? Just under 3 hours? Hmm, well, following just COTBP and DMC, there wasn't a whole lot to close up.

1. Finding Jack and getting him back. Jack doesn't appear until about the half hour mark of the movie. The whole movie previous to this is about getting the charts to get to the Locker and then getting there. Okay...there could have been a whole other way of getting them without it taking a half hour. Look at the Indiana Jones series. In Raiders, Indy is first seen in a temple in South America going after a big-busted statue. There's no explanation of why he's there. He just is. They could have done something like that where they knew where the charts were and just had to fight/sneak/manuever their way out to get to them.

2. Will's touch of destiny. Something would have had to happen to Will to make it seem like it could have always been fated to happen to him. This would have had to be big for us to connect it to what Tia said about him.

3. Reveal Tia and Davy were lovers and tell their story. The movie actually did a good job of showing their relationship and this wouldn't have taken much time.

4. If there is going to be a curse of the Flying Dutchman, explain clearly what it is. Gibbs could have done this. He has had a story to tell in every movie and I don't think he gets one in AWE. This would have made his character a lot more important and entertained us because we all pay attention to what Gibbs says. Plus T&T like giving the actor stories to tell.

5. Resolve the love triangle. I don't care what T&T say: nothing is resolved by the end of DMC. They had to make a choice and follow through on it. There are countless ways for them to have done this without just screwing over everybody.

6. Norrington. We last saw Norrington bring back the heart and swear off his pirating days. It would have had to show what he was doing now and tie him to the rest of the story.

7. Swann. We last saw Swann in Beckett's office, presumably now under his control. His story needs closed up.

8. Show what happens to Bootstrap. Will promised him he'd save him in DMC. Although I really didn't care too much, the audience deserves to see Will keep his promise and save his dad.

9. The plot after the crew saves Jack? Okay, I'm rusty. What happens to the key after we see Jack open the chest in DMC? If one of them has it, they need to find the heart (meaning find Beckett) and stab it. The writers can determine the consequences of stabbing the heart, if any. Somewhere Tia would become Calypso and there would be a bunch of comedy and action and probably some romance.

So there you go. Not much to fix up if you stick to the bare minimum. But no, T&T had to go to Singapore and create a brethren court (although it's fun it does take up a lot of time). They spend the first five minutes just hanging everybody. We already knew Beckett was bad to the bone, so there was no need for that. There was no need to have nearly as much W/E angst. Either break up or get back together. I think it's a little out of character that Elizabeth never told Will what she did after months of being on the same ship as him. So there probably could have been a really great movie at about 2:30/2:45 hours if they changed a few things.

Much of the stereotypical demeanor of 17-18th century seafarers may be in part due to brain damage often due to the vast amounts of alcohol consumed. In the Royal Navy the rum ration (or other spirits such as brandy) was a pint a day and the alcohol content was greater than at present, making this the equivalent of a bottle a day plus eight pints of small beer. Combined with head injuries from running into low bulkheads (which outnumbered battle injuries in the Royal Navy), this had the potential to lead to Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome. Frontal lobe damage could cause a lack of inhibition in speech and behaviour often associated with pirates.[14]

from wikipedia. thought it was kind of interesting.

Willo, that's quite a list! Its true they spend entirely TOO LONG hanging everyone at the beginning. Uncalled for.

I agree Willo...and Kate I disagree......

I think they had plenty of time...they wasted so much time in AWE...like Willo says....we don't even see Jack until 30 minutes into the movie.....the first 30 minutes are so boring......

I think there are so many other ways the movie should have been handled.....after DMC....I would have never imagined what happened in aWE....to me , the movies don't connect...there is absolutely no closure, no continuation to anything that happened in DMC.......in AWE. Just a bungled up mess! arrrhhhhhhgggggggg

That's an interesting find, Kate. I know from "Under the Black Flag" the sailors drank rum partly because they didn't want to drink dirty water. Rum doesn't go bad so they felt they could always have something to drink. What wasn't known back then is that alohol dehydrates you and if you're out in the sun all day, that can lead to stroke.

Mythbusters did an episode of pirate myths and I unfortunately missed most of it, but I did see the eyepatch segment. Sailors didn't always wear eyepatches because they were missing an eye. If they kept one eye covered, it actually helped them adjust going from the dark below decks up to the main deck where it was really bright. So combine that with the kohl that a lot of them wore, they took great care to protect their eyes.

Superstition and culture are big parts of their demeanor too, lovethemtigers, which may be why you disagree with Kate. She's not saying they're a dumb lot. You have to be smart to sail a ship and they paid great attention to the sea and the sky to help them determine the weather.
