Superman: Man of Steel

Uggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Horrible movie, but Shaq was stated as saying, "They asked me if I wanted to do a superhero movie, and offered me 8 million dollars." Whose gonna say no to that?

Also, Steel is more similar to Iron-Man and other suit wearing heroes, even though he bases himself off of Superman.

Idk. The whole "turning him black for the sake of needing more black people" is stupid imo. There are new supers created all the time. Make some black and give them an important role instead of just being fodder.

They didn't do it because they needed more black people. There are plenty of well known black heroes. Blue Marvel, Icon, Bulletproof from Invincible, Luke Cage, Black Panther, Rage, etc.. They were going for something different than 616 had been doing for decades already. And the creators straight up stated that they based Fury off Sam Jackson, then asked him if he would like to play him in the films.

Ultimate Universe was free to do whatever it wanted with racial changes.

60's mentality doesn't work with a multicultural world of buyers of comics and viewers of films.

Exactly.

So is this following the Birthright story line?

This guy is a house!!

Kind of worried now...

I'm not that bothered by that possible spoiler, at least we'll get to see some actual fighting this time around.

Yet more catering to the post-post-quasifeminist, boyfriend-pays-for-me-but-hey!-I'm-still-an-equal! snippet demographic.

*Lowering expectation-bar for this movie*

What girls are you dating that don't pay for themselves?

Not me; single friends. I'm also having a down-with-humans day, so don't mind me.

It was this line that worried me most:

"Superman in this film gets hurt a lot more easily than Routh's pre-crisis Superman...the military can hurt him too but Faora pretty much nearly kills him in hand to hand."

I mean, I don't mind Faora doing it as long as he kicks her ass in the end, but the military with guns and rockets?

He has to be AT LEAST JLU level, or im gonna be mad.

Oh hey it stars a weak Superman.

My interested just skyrocketed downwards.

Not to sound sexist but I'm really not happy with the idea of Faora giving Superman his worst beating. The reason that makes me worried is because it might make Superman's image look worse than it already is in the 21st century. The view a lot of people today have of Superman is that he is lame, boring, not dark enough, a "pussy", and the list goes on. I'm sure we all heard all the false accusations. This movie will be a big chance to reintroduce Superman to the modern world on the silver screen and to change that view on the character. Is making him by getting his ass kicked by a woman the best way to reintroduce the character and to start the franchise? It may work a lot better in the sequels but this is the first movie and it's supposed to reintroduce Superman to the GA but it may only strengthen the negative belief people have of him. That and the fact that I'm dissapointed Zod won't be the one severely kicking his ass since I like Zod a lot more 🙁.

Plus, the "military can hurt him too" instantly makes me lower my expectation bar too.

I'm not. I was actually expecting this. For those who don't know Faora in her first appearance she nearly killed him because her martial arts bypassed kryptonian durability. It would break the notion that superman is overpowered since none of his villains can actually harm him. As much as I want superman to be invulnerable, it not what general populace wants.

Not that part.
