Why do I find overpowered and broken to be more interesting? Well when he does something like that it kinda forces you to broaden your scope of awareness. Like a bullet hitting his eyeball in returns, think about an eyeball that can take a straight shot without anything happening, it's more difficult to imagine than a bullet bouncing off the S symbol on his chest - which is why that would appeal to me. Another example his him reversing the direction of hurricane winds in Superman III by creating a centrifical force exactly proportionate to that of the Tornado's, cancelling it out with precise exertion of his flight to increase his body's center of mass and the inertia it exerted against the wind-pressure of the tornado.
um yeah, they actually already made your version of a superman movie, they called it Superman (yawn) Returns and he does all the overpowered stuff you seem to enjoy such as lifting an island of kryptonite.
now WB is making a movie for those who enjoy action and with a sense of danger, translation: entertainment.
it seems that they have taken supes to bruce timm's power level, which is a good thing.

Its a slight change if anything but I wouldnt call it an improvement. I could get Ray Charles to draw up a better one than that.

Well Superman is a powerhouse, he's suppossed on some other level. Not to say he doesn't face down three others on his level.
Or someone above his like Darkseid, the danger is greater, once a Superman like that faces that kind of danger, imagine what it presents to the human race.
Actually this is Zach Snyder, Watchmen gives me faith....and I think, looking at this movies predicted plot, I think that his goal is along those lines...take Superman away out of fear of his kind, then leave his kind to their whim unappossed by him, and you got yourself a sense of danger.

I'm not getting my hopes up though, for some reason or another, some directors like Tim Burton for example; implement the same effects in all their movies.
