Well RJ, you try to break it down in the mot simple of forms for them, possibly give them examples that they might relate with, if nothing at all works, the best way to get a point across is by doing, so go ahead, do whatever you are trying to explain to dad, and he will see it.
He bought a laptop. You ever try exlaining the internet to a 65 year old man who has never use a computer in his life? I did pretty much what you suggested already. I'll give it a try I guess.

Yeah, the average baby boomer generation isn't as tech savvy as the newer generation kids so to speak. Like I said though, you can try explaining as much as you can, in time, he will learn. However, when the time comes, he will need assistance and will most likely ask for someone's aid, in which case, the learning process can settle in a bit better when help is needed.

The man can take apart and reassemble an entire diesel engine while blindfolded, but he can't figure out a damn laptop.

He's had more exposure growing up with diesel engines, since they've been around for centuries, unlike laptops.

Moving on.

What do you like? Personal taste is the key to victory, I could spend hours on a photography forum, but wouldn't know what to do in a sports forum.

Go to your room, Syren. We've had enough of your witchcraft shenanigans.

Oh, dudette! My co-workers today were talkin' about waking up in a parallel universe, and my buddy goes: "It would suck if I went to sleep, and woke up to find out my dad's a chick, possibly named Kerry."

I laughed, and went on some random-ass tangent going: "Ohh, yeah! Then he's all Brit and chappy, what does chappy mean(?), constantly looks at you like you're crazy but then never bothers to tell you your lil' sister's name kinda sounds like a cute lil' Pokemon which you then have to meet and it'll make you late for schoooool!"

He then asked to buy meth from me.

You make a good point already.

I would guess movies, but that would take me right back here.

I like music and video, but also science.

Usually a band's forum gives me some good kicks for quite awhile. Except that time I joined Green Day Community to rub it in Walshy's face, I didn't much to talk about there. I'd shop around, forums are free, you win every time.

Until come your birthday and your email address gets filled with 100 happy birthday messages from websites that made you think "why did I go there?"

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chappy

I completely disagree with all of those definitions. To me, a 'chappy' is a British 'fellow'. For instance, "Look at him all smiley and gay, he's certainly a happy chappy." stoned

Another thread?! I got to try to keep up with yu and your threads.

That's why it pays to have several fake e-mail addresses.

Good ole chappys. It's fun word to pronounce, like Muk-Luk.

Screw all your forum offers Scyther, www.khanacademy.org is gonna teach me everything I need to know!

Seriously, you learn from home, and I find that it works remarkably. 😐
