OK I have some theories/questions on POTC that I need to share:
- In the first movie, While Will was being held over the gold, they were going to cut his hand to spill his blood on the gold. But before they could do that Jack came in and disrupted them. Then during battle you clearly see jack cut his own hand, get blood on the piece of gold he had in his hand, and throw it to will. Will never actually cut his hand as barbosa originally planned. So what was the result of this?
- There is talk among co-workers that Jack was already dead, and still is dead. After all, if he is in debt to Davy Jones, just as Barbosa is, then it wouldnt matter if he was stabbed because he should essentially be dead already.
- If Davy Jones has an undead crew of his own, then how do we know the Gold was the reason that Barbosa's crew was undead. They said that the Gold curse only prevented them from tasting things like rum and food, but didnt say anything about making them undead. The crew should already be undead because their souls are owned by Davy Jones. This could explain why Barbosa in DMC eats the apple and looks like he can taste it.
- If barbosa was already undead, then he shouldn't have bled when he was shot as I stated the gold only prevented them from tasting food, not from being dead already. Regardless, if my theories above are wrong, and they might be because it shows the monkey becomes undead when he grabs the coin at the end of the first movie. Then Barbosa could have crawled over to the chest and grabbed a coin so that he wouldn't die. But did he keep the coin? or did he just hold it long enough to heal and then put it back so he would no longer be cursed?
Ok, here are a few answers:
For your first question, Will did in fact cut his hand. I have to rewatch the movie, but he either cut his hand right before Jack threw him the medallion or right after Jack tossed it to him.
Where did the idea that Jack is dead come from? Davy Jones let him live, and decided to collect the debt at a later time from Jack.
Davy Jones' crew is under a different type of 'curse'. The Aztec gold was the reason Barbossa's crew was undead, but Davy Jones has the power to delay death, and possibly to return life to those who are dying. Also, Davy Jones does not own the souls of Barbossa or his crew.
I'm not...sure what you are talking about as far as Barbossa and the coin go. Barbossa did in fact die, and was brought back by Tia Dalma. 😄 He was never in debt to Davy Jones.

Well I'm not certain of Will's hand, but Jack clearly cut his own hand right before throwing the coin to will. Regardless of Will's hand, what was the purpose of Jack cutting his hand?
I guess I must have assumed Davy Jones owned Barbosa too so that may have been my confusion.
Is there somewhere that says Tia brought barbosa back or is that supposed to be assumed because he is in her house at the end?
Okay, a little off-topic, but earlier we discussed something that looks like a man's ring around Will's neck. Sorry if someone already pointed this out, but he's not only wearing it in AWE. He's wearing it in DMC. If you watch the liar's dice scene, it's very visible he has a man's ring around his neck.
I don't think there's a wedding band on Bootstrap's finger, so I wonder if that is his dad's wedding ring, for any reason. Boostrap seemed to not want his family to be associated with pirates, so do you think he sent his wedding ring home in addition to the medallion?
