There has been some confusion about swap timing.
To recap this area:
1. Swaps are the last thing that happen in a turn. The first thing in a turn is the check for Refresh. Hence, swaps come before refrehses (the first swap in a fight is the end of turn one, the first refresh check is the start of turn two. And so on.)
2. In my updates it looks like refreshes are happening at the END of turns. Not so- in fact what I am doing is showing you NEXT turn's card draw. Then normally when you ask for swaps, I use up your swap from the end of the previous turn. This is because you often want to see what has happened before you make your swap, and as swaps happen last thing in a turn, after everyione has moved, I think this is fair.
3. Previous experimentation demonstrated to me that if I show the card at the start of the turn after everyone's swaps it wouldn't work- I'd have to interrupt the game for everyone's swaps, and especially for the refresh. Imagine what the game would be like if you all made your actioms, I started the turn, and drew the refresh card, and had to say "actually, everyone, you;'ll have to give me your turns again, because there was a refresh and your power set-up is entirely different to what you thought!" Half of you would refuse to post actions until I showed the card.
4. It seemed easier (and certainly much faster) to show you the upcoming card for the turn and then allow you to make your swap for that turn with knowledge of the upcoming card. That's technically illegal but doesn't matter unless it is a Refresh. I don't allow these retroactive swaps in refresh turns because you already saw the card, and technically you should not have known you were swapping just before a refresh (except for those rare situations where only the Joker remains in the deck, as is the case right now; we may never see that again)
5. Therefore, the safest way to swap is to ask me to make swaps for the END of the turn, as several of you do. Of course, circumstances during the turn might make you change your mind about what you wanted swapped, but if that happens I normally allow you to change what you did.
Conclusion: if you don't want to get caught out like Lana just was, post end of turn swaps with your action, gambling about whether it is going to be followed by a refresh or not. That is, in fact, how the system is meant to work.
