not to split hairs, but most major countries care more about their celebrities than their teachers. and, at least in my state, teachers get the most incredible pension plan ever devised.i hate it when people claim teachers are underappreciated. they work 181 days out of the year and get that megapension. sounds sweet to me.

I get so sick and tired of hearing people ***** about how teachers get payed nothing. When I know some of them personally and believe me they ain't hurtin. They ain't rich either but they ain't poor by no means. And considering allot of the ones I know (not all) really don't even give a crap about what they do other than a source of income. Most teachers are basically payed babysitters. However there are good teachers that really care out there as well. Whats funny is how it seems to me that from the ones I know, the ones that care aren't usually the ones bitchin about the pay! 😉
so that was the big mystery, that stark was spear heading this thing all along?...well the attemtped assassination thing came out of left field tho, but still, nothing else came as shock i think tony has recently picked up a copy of Jin Roh: the wolf brigade, or a copy of he Watchers and took ques from Ozymandias. i mean the whole uniting the ppl against a common enemy at the cost of your friends and colleagues is so played out. can anyone say anti climattic to the core...i havent read the BP issue yet, but im sure im gonna hear how much it sucks and how hudlin is a hack by tommorrow morning😉
Well, I had to copy all this crap down for a person on another site...so might as well post it here, too. The Sally/Ben interview with Cap.
So lemme get this straight. Someone spits a verbal tirade against Cap because he was fighting for an ideal of what America is...prettymuch what he's always done(AND been lauded for) and not for the misquided whims of the public?
Somebody post the scans of that issue so I can read this.
I can’t get the scan right now... No scanner but I hope to buy one in a day or so. But, next best thing: here’s the entire “interview” with Cap in prison.
Cap: Hello Ben, Sally. I wish I could say it was a pleasure to see you but under the circumstances...
Sally: Dang... This place is six times the size of my apartment. I gotta get me some superpowers and get arrested.
Cap: Please come in and sit down. I understand you’ve been given permission by the authorities to let me express my side of what’s happened. I know you’re probably on a tight deadline. I feel I owe it to Ms. Floyd after our last encounter to be as straight as possible.
Ben: I warn you in advance. We’re going to ask you some very hard questions, sir.
Cap: I have every intention of answering as honestly and candidly as I possibly can. Can I ask what angle you’re taking.
Ben: A comparison of the two sides of the Registration debate, as described by registered and unregistered heroes. After you, we go to interview Tony Stark.
Cap: I haven’t had much of a chance to speak to Tony. When you see him, I’d like you to tell him how sorry I am for all this.
Ben Why don’t you tell him yourself, sir? This is your opportunity to explain your actions to the American people.
Cap: Hopefully you’ll ask the same questions of the Registration Act supporters. I asked them to come to the table earlier. They drew a line in the sand.
Ben: Did you and your supporters step over that line, sir? How much of your decision to go to war was made after careful study, and how much because of pride?
Cap: Pride was never involved. I believe what I did was right. If you know me at all, you’ll know I’m a simple man at heart. I believe in the fundamental freedoms accorded us by our Constitution, Ben. I believe we have a right to bear arms, a right to defend and a right to choose. I have sworn an oath to protect America from external forces, and from within. If that means standing against my own government, rejecting a bogus law passed by my own superiors, then I suppose that’s what it means. I now realize while my intentions were correct and honorable, I could as easily have come to the table as Tony Stark or Reed Richards. I saw the possibility of a Registration Act as a basic violation of our rights as Americans. For that, I wish to apologize to the country I love.
Ben: Sir, the people are going to ask “why not sooner?” If you recognize this now, why couldn’t you just have recognized it earlier and saved us millions in property damage?
Cap: People only come to a conclusion aftthey examine all aspects of a problem, Ben. That’s what happened here.
Ben: They sure do but most people don’t have the means to explore the pros and cons of an argument by tearing a city in half.
Cap: I did what I thought was right for America!
Sally: Let me ask you something, sir. Do you know what MySpace is?
Cap: I’m not sure I understand the relevance of that question, Sally –
(Note: Now Sally, using her keen investigative reporting skills, during an interview, will kindly rant about her own opinion)
Sally: No, you just don’t understand the question , sir. I’m trying to illustrate a point so bear with me. Do you know who won the last World Series, or who was the last American Idol? When was the last time you actually attended a NASCAR race? When was the last time you watched The Simpsons or logged onto YouTube to watch stupid videos? Answer?
Cap: ...
(Translation: What the ****?)
Sally: Exactly. Never. You hold America up as some shining beacon but you know next to nothing about it.
Cap: Miss Floyd, you’re being simplistic –
(More keen reporting and interviewing skills, interrupting the person you’re questioning!)
Sally: Yeah, but when danger rears its ugly head you don’t have to hide in a subway like the rest of us, do you? We don’t have the power to be as complicated as you. See I resent the fact I ever had to hide in a subway station in the first place. You people set yourselves up as some kind of army but I don’t remember voting for you. If I’m gonna pay for an army they’d better be answerable to me! So was it all worth it, sir? All those dead and buried...and what did you accomplish, exactly? Did you get to work the problem out to your satisfaction?
Cap: I understand you’re just voicing the frustrations of others Sally, but I did what I thought was right.
Sally: Well bully for you. You’ve finally realized America wants a Registration Act. But the big question on everyone’s mind is, why couldn’t you have realized that a few weeks ago? Your problem is that you’re fighting for an ideal. It’s all you know how to do. America is no longer about Mom and applie pie...it’s about high cholesterol and Paris Hilton and scheming your way to the top. The country I love treats its celebrities like royalty and its teachers like dirt. But at least I walk its streets everyday - at least I know what it is. You’ve broken that country, Captain America. What are you going to do to fix it?
I'd like nothing better than to deck that *****. 😒: Here's what I would say.
"Guess what *****? You just proved why he's right. YOU AND EVERYONE WHO WAS IN FAVOR OF THE SUPERHERO REGISTRATION ACT! You think Myspace matters? You think American Idol matters? IT DOESN'T MATTER ONE BIT COMPARED TO THE PRINCIPLES THIS COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED ON. Or the fact that Tony Stark and you people have destroyed the essential freedoms of this country. You want accountability? You can't handle it. You're a disgrace to the american people and the american ideal. This man, this man you have arrested and are attempting to crucify as some out of touch old fogie, he's the real america. He is the one man who truly represents the hope and dreams this country was founded on. Your america? Your america, as you see it, is a corrupt fascist greedy nation with no moral standing and no rights for anyone. Steve Roger's america? That's the nation founded by the founding fathers, the nation that believed in freedom, liberty and justice for all. The nation that fought for civil rights, and fought the nazis. The nation that believed that all men and women were created equal and each was entitled to a fair chance to make their dreams come true. I look at you, I don't see America. I see the corruption that made something as vile as the registration act and what it represents possible. Because what you've done? It's not the will of the people, it's the death of the dream. And if the people truly want this, then there's no hope and nothing good left in this country. Shame on you. And shame on the people of this country for doing this to the one man who still believes in the dream. Because it looks like no one else understand what it truly means to be an american."
Sorry for the rant. 😮 But frankly, that interview offended me in a way that I can't express other than a long rant like that.
So in the grand scheme of things,All those things aren't important?Soething that gives an individual a chance to reach their dream and one that brings joy to millions?
Yeah Cap fights for an ideal, however during Civil War he stopped caring abut the people and only about winning, and all the ideals he fights for are to help the people.
Yes....he fought the Nazi's,but so did Britain,Russia,Australia and England, but because science made him perfect,is he above the rest?Does his connection to WW2 put his opinion, beliefs and thoughts above the entire American race?At the moment there is the war in Iraq, people who fought against a terrible man,are their opinions more valid then yours?
Heroes felt they should operate freely and independently of governments, yet you have had Cap working for sheild and the government, totally fine with it, it only became a problem when he was forced to,yet freedom of speech and action means that one can do or say as they like, unless that infringes on the liberties of others, did Cap care that him standing up for what he and a Rag-Tag group believed in utterly squashed the beliefs of the entire country,he defended an ideal by totally ignoring it,yeehah. He doesn't come from a better generation, just one with different beliefs, but trust me on this,if WW3 did ever happen, the current Gen would be just as willing to fight as him.
Yes Stark was,is and always shall be a douchebag, but what politician isn't?Sorry for the rant,i just hate how Stark is getting such a bum rap for doing his best to give the nation what it wants, albeit in a shady way, whilst Cap is being hailed as a hero for trashing the ideals he so sacredly cares about.
"end rant"
Wait.what the hell?A speel about politics?damn...i must have been possesed by that evil gavin mcloud again....

Well is it any mystery that Captain America is out of touch with Americans, is that an America worth fighting for?

1) Student teacher is nothing compared to what a real treacher puts up with, your just twiddling in the shallow end at this end
2) a superintendent isn't a teacher, and is a much easier job that being an actual teacher
3) my whole family is full of teachers, and my fiance has been teaching for 11 years, as have I
To sum up both rants...
The ends don't justify the means, both had noble goals but neither was whiter than white in trying to achieve them.
Personaly I liked the issue, it showed that both parties were at fault, that the war wasn't black and white and that they both crossed the line because of their beliefs.
I don't like Stark, even when I read Iron Man he used to get up my nose with his attitude and everytime he had a confrontation with Cap, I wanted Cap to make him eat that shield.
But neither man was right, Steve and Tony have always butted heads and this in my mind started as something noble from both of them but turned personal real fast!
Civil War for me = Tony's ego vs Steve's ego and although the writing left a lot to be desired and the end was an anti climax, it showed especially in Frontline just how this was just as much about Steve beating Tony and visa versa than it was about Amercia.

I guess it could be argued that Cap was the better man for surrendering. He seemed to be fighting for the right cause but went around it the wrong way.

It should never have gotten to the point. If Cap's kneejerk reaction wasn't to go against Tony thigs wouldn't have gotten so out of hand. Tony was the only person who was willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that superheroes dont get outlawed while looking out for the people. He may have been underhanded, but he was looking at the larger picture.
Remember, between him and Cap Tony was the one who tried to make sure the civilians were safe.

Yeah....you cant really say that Tony did anything wrong. It just seems that Tony was more level headed....dammit.

Yes , because OBVIOUSLY murdering a diplomat and causing a possible war while employing dangerous super powered psychopaths is safe for the public.
Because OBVIOUSLY that diplomat died (he didn't, that was sarcasm that) and the Thunderbolts program wasn't in effect before Stark got in charge (more sarcasm for ya).
In any case Stark actually put failsafes in these guys as opposed to the CSA who let Atlas and Radioactive Man join up without batting an eye. Who knows how many people Chen made sterile before he went straight?

you do realize that not all teachers make even half that right? me and my fiance make collectively 60,000 a year with our salaries combined, and we are both teachers. teachers are too under appreciated, i mean we are teaching the next generation after all
Originally posted by manjaro
i am aware of that yes, but the thing is, the ones who know they really cake off, becuz they have been teaching for 15-20 years, and they all got masters degrees, and they make 60 and still bitching....so f **** them!! and im not taking it back my good sir!!
yes, i realize that as you've said it already. the fact still remains that most teachers make less than 40,000 a year. i mean most garbage men make more than us, which is ridiclous for the crap we have to put up with.
