It's Emma Frost it's what she does...it's part of her character and you cannot blame her for what she did. She makes her point very clear and you have to admit, it's very hard to try and dispute it. There are very few characters around that speak with logic Emma is one of them ie Killing Wanda, Killing the infected Astronauts.
Secondly that's what Carol gets for having double standards...and are you trying to suggest that Scott is the one with the leash around Emma's head? 😕 They're both co-leaders of the X-Men.
She can go a bit overboard though... 😬
and x-men? No... the institute... i'd like to think that when it comes to the x-men themselves scott (although he's been pretty reluctant to lately), would put his foot down when neccessary... i think as far as he's concerned, in the field, he's #1...
As for Jean she wouldn't have done what Emma did, she would have most probably helped the Avengers.
I'm not sure... i dislike jean as much as anyone, but i'd like to think she'd be loyal to the rest of the x-men... although... scott v jean... imagine... drool
And finally about the Stark thing. I agree with X, Emma could and has done much better for herself since her Hellfire days.
yeah...
Ok, i finally got up to speed with civil war (as i have dial up i have very little chance to read most issues, and i cant afford em all... 😬
Anyway, i've come to the following conclusions...
I've heard Stark touted as being vilified by Marvel writers... i think this is wrong... he just doesn't want a repeat of what happened in stamford... maybe his pursuing of cap and the others is a bit ott, but his heart is in the right place... i can see why he feels the registration is a good step, but maybe he's a tad naive if he thinks the government will stop at it... as cap said, washington'll eventually be the ones deciding who the bad guys are...
Cap... i havent been a fan since i was 5 years old, watching those old cartoons... the older i got the more i seemed to dislike him, and his 'do you think this A stands for france' thing made me down-right hate him... but now i've come circle... reading the few issues that i have, i've got nothing but growing respect for the man...
Civil War in general... i have to say i'm pleasantly surprised... after the utter tripe that house of m, i was expecting more of the same... maybe it is helped by the fact that you get to see all these heroes kicking the shit out of each other, but i think this is truly a series that can be called an actual event...
She Hulk... possibly the best looking backside in Marvel...

Lets be honest here...put yourself in her shoes and look at the position she's been put in. If you just lost 40+ students(The second batch that you've lost to mutant haters), were on the verge of extinction and had a particular insight(Astrid Bloom insight) into human nature you'd probably have done the same thing...heck I would.
Binary had the audacity to waltz into the insititute and play her trump card expecting the mutants to fall head over heels over her awesome power, inner strength and grand intellect. Carol has always had that problem, she wanted to be the one to bring the mutants to the Pro-SRA side. So the reason Carol came to the mansion was not to inform the X-Men of Jays death but to do some Pro-SRA negotiations with the mutants.(It's stated on the previous pages of those scans, Emma reads Carols mind as soon as she enters the Mansion Grounds and enlightens the readers on Carols ulterior motive. [New X-Men #28]) So IMO Emma was well within her limits, in fact I was expecting few more traumatic memories. If Emma wasn't right about the Avengers having double standards then maybe I'd be more sympathetic but as far as I can see they are all hypocrites.
Anyway, Emma has always had a very good reason for what she does and that's a trait a find particularly attractive. Even in New X-Men, what she did to X-23 is justifiable, a bit cruel but justifiable. X-23 does not hesitate to kill and if she's anything like her mutant donor then a mutant bloodbath should be expected sometime in the near future.
Hmm...Emma killed a human infront of Scott and well...he nor she seemed to concerned. The human of course slaughtered mutants and marketed their unique talents ie Diamond Lipstick. He even begged for his life in front of them and promised to go quitely but she still chucked him out a window and made every bystander think he commited suicide.
They both share responsibilities, Scott is usually in charge of the X-Men field operations but has taken orders from Emma quite frequently. Emma in the running of the institute, the children, teaching, conflicts, psychological help, cerebra, health along with Beast, well being of everyone and financing(I assume). She's also encharge of the New X-Mens training. They both share the mutant affairs job, but it seems as Emma has more power in that area.
Scott and Jean have butted heads before with the whole affair thing...it was as expected...the Phoenix interferred which...whenever anybody gets into a fight with Jean be sure to run and duck for cover because everything revolves around that bloody crane.
Nah Jean would probably have done what Xavier would want her to do, which is form strong relations with the humans. Heck this offer could have been the mutants big break.

I'm not saying emma was wrong, just that the extent scott was willing to go to was a half-hearted "emma don't."

Could you fill me in? I don't know what she did to x-23...

Sublime? Emma said he killed himself didn't she?

True, though i'd like to think only when he actually agrees with her...

I think he realises how much better she is with people, so i don't think he minds her taking a lead role, he even left her in charge when he and the original x-men went after the 198 (funny how the initials of the o*n*e and the 198 are the same)...

Maybe, though i think the older ones would fear it as being a stepping stone towards mutant registration... i would...

I think he understood how upset she was, Carols timing was all wrong especially when Emmes had just been escorting parents to their childrens dead bodies.
Could you fill me in? I don't know what she did to x-23...
Emma kept on mentally attacking X-23 with images of a women drenched in blood and broken limbs. Turns out the women is her mother...Laura was in tears after this.(X-23 killed her mother)
Sublime? Emma said he killed himself didn't she?
She told Cyclops "I don't care what you think, he practically somersaulted from my grip". Which is quite funny considering that he yelled "Don't kill me". Then she made the bystanders think he commited suicide.
True, though i'd like to think only when he actually agrees with her...
Possibly but that still means he agrees with her on most if not all occasions.(Mind control maybe...)

O_O Didn't notice that, I thought that number was odd.

Who knows, but Jean doesn't have it in her to do what Emma did, she's the good girl. I think the X-Men have been able to intergrate themselves far easier into the Marvel World with a telepath at the helm who has less raw power and who happens to be an individual who "thinks outside the box" due to her morals ..
I'll get you the scan from New X-Men 28

Ah, ok, thx...

Yeah, i saw that too... maybe she did kill him, i dunno...

Its a possibility... or maybe the phoenix's influence over him (from the here comes tomorrow arc), makes him less inclined to disagree with emma...

I noticed it a while back, i just assumed everyone else had too... 😖
Who knows, but Jean doesn't have it in her to do what Emma did, she's the good girl.
True, though puch her far enough and she's capable of alot (when she psychically... i suppose violated is the best word... emma.

Yeah, and stark likes her too...

Yep, but then it's the same repeat and rinse with Jean dying. I was suprised with the ending of endsong.

That's good cause something wrong on my side with uploading images...I'll try tommorrow I really like the insult directed at Carol.

I posted this (only today) in the x forum, its something thats been on my mind for a while, i could be way off base, but i couldn't help but wonder...
Originally posted by pr1983I have a question on a slightly different subject...
In the 'here comes tomorrow' storyline (new x-men issues 150-154), we find out that jean/phoenix manipulates scott to stay at the school and stay with emma, now my question is...
If he was willing to leave the x-men (and emma), then maybe this so called love for her is influenced by the phoenix itself? When in phoenix endsong he says he loves emma, couldnt that be the phoenix in his head again?
Because honestly, if the phoenix knew he was willing to walk away after losing jean, how does it know it can safely disengage said influence? What if it stopped manipulating him and he just upped an left?
So is it possible that at this very moment (in astonishing and civil war), he is still under the influence of the phoenix?
Just a thought...
as i said... i could be way off base, but... meh... 😬
Yep, but then it's the same repeat and rinse with Jean dying. I was suprised with the ending of endsong.
I HATED endsong... it did nothing imo other than bring jean back to appease her fans... nothing changed afterwards, and the whole 'you may be able to level forests, but when i'm in diamond form your blasts can't hurt me' thing pissed me off soooooooooo much...
That's good cause something wrong on my side with uploading images...I'll try tommorrow I really like the insult directed at Carol.
i do agree to an extent... its too often that the x-men have their backs against the wall and get no f*cking help, and even when they win and save the day they get shit off the public, when all it would take from captain america or iron man is one f*cking press conference supporting the x-men...

That is true, but we're talking about a full on, onslaught hurting, forest levelling blast, six inches from her face... the force at least should have knocked her back a little... shouldnt it?
