The limit is Thanos for the tourney, and the only reason even he could beat the Runner is because of the Time Gem. Immortal Elders of the Universe are generally given the gasface in a herald tourney.
But yeah, I agree on BB. He'd be a solid choice.

The gem had nothing to do with Runner defeating Thanos. Thanos himself states so.

The Runner beat thanos only because of speed, but without the gem, and because of the cap on light speed, The runner should be a completley legal choice.
