If someone was kicking a child or an old lady in the street how many could sit by and watch it?
Not many people can stomach watching brutal violence of other people, that is because something inside of us is turning.
Why do we generaly let our women get away with more things and want to protect them in many instances as guys if there were no sense of compassion within us?
I'm not saying that we don't have a capacity for evil, I'm saying people were made with both.

I mean yes he wants the streets safe, and yes he wants to make sure that no one else's family suffers the same fate as his own, but his primary dedication is making sure that the bad guys get what's coming to them. I think we all "make people pay" in our own ways, whether it's passive aggressive or very brutal. But his intent in the end is still good.
Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, was brutal and is archaic, but it wasn't to be evil. It's just an old fashioned way of justice. We all have situations where we want to utilize that. (ex. If someone hits you, hit them back.)
