Bottom line, Ebonics is a version of the english language that sprang up due to sociao-economic and educational differences. It might be a legitimate way to communicate with others that share that sort of history, but it's ignorant...especially in a country where english is the primary language of succees. It's silly to comapre it to spanish or german, or any other legitimate language. Sure there are differeing dialects for every language, but Ebonics is not one of those. Ebonics is a language based on slang, based on a propogation and diversification of slang terms.
Feel free to talk to your "homies" that way, but don't expect me to give you a job if you use that terminology when you walk into my office.

Sigh, Again, not all individuals use ebonics use it as a primary method of speech. It's only ignorant if you do, if you speak it on your own time, no problem. And your sorta right, ebonics mainly developed because of the hip hop sub-culture, most of the terms used in ebonics were coined by "Emcee's".

What makes a language legitimate, aren't languages formed by cultures or sub-cultures? Hell, many languages spring forth from other languages, isn't english, spainish, and others derived from latin?

It isn't a language because you have an elitist view on it, so, far I have not heard one person give a legit reason as to why ebonics is not a ethnolect. Most of the excuse is "It's ignorance" or "It's ignorant jargon". This is the same elitist attitude that had to be fought to make certain creole dialects into official languages.
EDIT:Ebonics is not slang bcause a slang refers to a relatively small set of vocabulary items which are ephemeral they gain and lose currency rapidly, go in and out of style. Slang does not have a grammar or rules of pronunciation; it is not a dialect or a language.
The word "YO" Has been around for a quater of a century now.

Specifically, Ebonics is an ethnolect, a 'type variety' of the English language. While dialect restricts the classification to geographical areas, where ebonics would definitely not apply, an ethnolect is quite correct since it is predominately used by blacks. So i guess we were both correct, technically.
I still don't like it though 😐
Any confirmation that starts 'upon looking it up (in Wikipedia)' is on shaky ground for two reasons.
It is a dialect.

Neither will continually ****ing saying 'eubonics'.
I've noticed the use of ebonics among Whites is spoken when wanting to sound "cool" and or humorous or not to be taken to seriously. Their total misuse of it is funny as hell. And the other thing i notice is that Whites use Ebonic terms that were in vogue like years ago. Like i can't count how many times i've heard the word "bling-bling" and "wassaaap!" and "you da man!" come from Whites in 2006, lol. Some funny sh*t.
