I"m comparing the majority who pats itself on the back in any instance. That was just the first thing that came to mind. You only saw what you wanted and not the point. Which is what happens alot on here with my post. Poeple can never see the meaning behond the statement for only seeing what jumps out. If every one calls Jessica Simpson ugly, it doesn't make her ugly. But if everyone just keeps telling her that to fit in or feel cool, then everyone will say, wow jessica they owned you. When no one actually took the time to see if she was really pretty. I dont' know if you get me but WTF ever.

You say I'm a baised fan boy, but half of the time, I argue for a DC character even after having given the marvel character the win. I just don't want the Dc character to be underestimated. Hence it is not about power. What I am saying is that the two are analogous.

In the Siberian wastes it is the Siberian/Amur tiger that fills that niche.

Now, while a Jaguar is powerful, the Amur tiger is far more powerful (the largest naturally occuring cat).
HOWEVER, the two are analogues of one another. They fill the respective niches in their respective habitats.

It is more or less the same for Thanos and Darkseid. They are, roughly, each other's mirror.

Now, Darkseid is on another level. Some of his showings have simply been on another plateau (note: again looking at feats that are not including external power augmentation .....thus no ALE for Darkseid, and no IG or similar for Thanos). Even without the Omega Effect Darkseid can still do amazing things using his psionic powers by themselves (eg turn a being into dust, or stone, with a thought; raise the dead; telepathically control 3 billion Daxamites).

However with that said Darkseid is generally equal to Thanos.
Not because of power ability, but simply because they are each other's ideological constant.

It is the same being in different universes.

Last analogy: Think of twins. One twin is taken to North Korea a day after he is born, and the other (identical) twin is taken to the Netherlands. Both twins are raised 100% accoding to the norms (eg culture, diet, etc) of those nations.
On their 20th birthday you go to see both twins.

You will note that the 'North Korean' twin (the one who went to NK)will be far shorter than his Dutch brother ( shorter by almost a foot and a half) ....this will be solely due to dietary conditions during the early years, which would make the NK twin to be malnourished and thus making his growth process to be at the very bottom of his genetic disposition for height (this is easily seen by comparing the average North Korean with the average South Korean).
There will also be huge differences in things like intellect, keratin levels affecting hair and nails, bone formation, personality.

However the two were identical twins when born.

Purpose of this? Simply to show that just because people are 'equal' doesn't make it so, and vice-versa.

Darkseid is equal to Thanos. Whether or not their power sets are equal or not.

With that said, not many characters can defeat a non-jobbing Darkseid. Superman cannot, Lobo cannot, the entire JLA cannot .....most of the defeats Darkseid has undergone have been primarily due to PIS.

In the past, i would've cosigned this post completely.

But imo, the law of averages win out.

We've seen J'onn do some uber things, to those on or above Supermans level, but going by his average, i'd say he's doomed to lose the majority to Superman.

Darkseid is uber when written with flair, but these past years he's been written more like Thanos, than like the Cosmic Dr.Doom he's supposed to be.

Firestorm redirected the OE, pc.(Retconned, but it saw print)
Orion reflected it about 20 years ago.
Superman did the same thing about 5 years ago.
WW, and her plot device braces did the deed two years ago.

His OE is his ultimate weapon, and its been trumped a few times.

Seeing that its been trumped by people who i'd consider less powerful than Surfer in the firepower department(barring Orion), i'd see it hella likely that Thanos would reflect it as well.

They do hold the same relative positions in their respective univereses though.

Thanos might be less versatile in what he can do, but they're more or less at the same level in output.

Darkseid though, is a bit under Thanos though, mano y mano.

Two straight humblings by a top tier, followed by getting his whole invasion force kicked off Earth by Superman, along with smart ass quips and a relative punch in the mouth will kill the average.
