But if it passes through a shield, it doesnt erase the shield and the bearer does it (I thought it did)? How does that work?
It depends one what he wants it to do. People always assume that the beams are for the ultimate erase effect. THey aren't. SOmetimes he teleports someone to alternate realities where they can't escape. He did this to the Infinity man. Sometimes he ages people to dust or deages them or steals thier souls. As he did on his planet when he stole the souls of like millions of his worshippers. The OE does what he wants it to do. But there should have been some finder beams. That is mistake number one.

In this one it has passed all he way from Darkseid's dimension, to Earth, and goes through Supes' coat to no effect, Supes surmises that is locked onto his specific atomic structure and won't affect anything else.

Where is the finder beams? DS had commented on how strong Supers had gotten. It would seem DS didn't get any weaker but superman is now ABOVE top tier. Also, make note that Superman is protected by the source. I gather this would include his heat vision. Oh and that writer is an idiot who forgot all about the Finder Beams.

Once again, Superman is not above top tier. He's never done anything to put him at that level. It's more or less a Loebation of Darkseid.
DC has consistantly written that SUperman Gets stronger with time. So when does he get above top tier to you? Sooner or later you have to admit that his character is written to become more and more powerful. Is it that we dont' want him to be above top tier for sake that he would then win those Thor Vs. Superman threads?

No, but sun dipped he may be able to damage some powerful characters. Thats as long as he can get in hand to hand range.

I don't think they'll make Superman above top tier, to be honest. They'd have to have a third crisis. Then we'd have post crisis crisis Superman.
And in a moments notice, Supes does leap above the top tier.
That's why they all get sidelined, and he saves the day.
He just draws in vast more amounts of energy when needed.

Then how do you explain the fact that DS said Superman had grown Stronger. OR the fact that Superman himself has said the longer be absorbs Solar Radiation, the more capacity he has to store it and the stronger he gets. It's why Supergirl THOUGHT she was stronger. Becuz she thought she had been asborbing Sunlight longer. But she didn't know about SUperman's Thousand years in asgard either. also in kingdome come, WW and Superman and CM had all gotten stronger. Hell the entire league did. And Superman eventuallybecomes Superman Prime. Where does all that power come from if not over time? He does just fly to the sun and instantly become powerful enough to power every superman thruout all time.
Kingdome come is an Elseworlds story though, and Supes really didn't do anything impressive. I read it for the story, not power level.
Anywho, I don't think they'll make him that powerful for the sake of the supporting characters. The only time I can think of him above the norm is the 1Mil series, but that was ages into the future.
and Manhunter killed Darkseid. 😄

Supposively. Didn't Superman bury him in the source wall after blinding him? Also, I think that prophecy was in effect only in how Kirby originally had the New Gods planned.
Yeah I think DS is pretty much Immortal now, Since the source has decided that DS is essential to the cosmos.
