Her having an ongoing comic? could be interesting. rofl.

I really don't think popularity always equals power, but it may equal victory.

I am under the impression that if a character dosen't have a good reception by comic fans, then their power for the most part, either stays stagnet, or that particular character is written poorly. (ex. Absorbing Man)

Now if a character becomes popular with fans, its seems like they are sometimes powered up to rediculous levels (ex. Wolverine).

Your thoughts?

Its always up to the writer

yay, someone who agrees with me. lol.

I don't believe it has as much to do with fan popularity as much as others do. Absorbing Man not being written to his full potential is more likely due to the fact that A.) he's a villain and B.) he's a thug (aka stupid).

Wolverine just has the primary abilities to stab people and heal, both of which get the job done for him.

I'm always skeptical of AM being under written alot I mean was created by Loki and while Loki is quite powerful I find it hard to believe that AM can be any bigger a threat then the person that made him.

Anyways as to whether the stronger you are depnds on your popularity it can but not always. Of course someone said it best popularity equals more appearances equals more chances to get over the top feats that seem to make people stronger.

Wolverine is a good example because he has had many medicore feats but after so long a writer is going to give him a rediculous simply for the sake of doing something new and bigger.

"Fairly dependant" seems right. Most comic readers see a character as "How I'd LIKE to be" i.e Superman or "How I AM" i.e Spiderman.

Some people like uber powerful characters because they want to be uber themselves, some people like characters who have weak powers and or are underrated because they feel that way themselves.

It's rare to find a character that has a really stupid power, but still sells comics only because of the fact it is written well.

Loki didn't create him, he just set in motion his creation. Like, I can press a button that sets off a nuclear bomb, but that doesn't mean I'm as powerful as a nuclear bomb.

AM shouldn't have very much trouble ripping Loki apart unless he gets removed from the battlefield.

also I'd rather have messiah cable then generic gun guy # 12234214234234

right on

wolverine part is not true. when looking at the fact classic wolverine has some of his best strength feats and dodging feats.

also one of his best hulk vs showings

along with feats such as vs tiger shark, namor, Ba'al and so on.

It is not the characters overall power that depends on popularity,it is just how they are depicted using it.Example many of the Xmen foes could just be killed Via Cyclopses(?) omniblast but since he is not as popular it will be shown as Collosus engaging them in fierce hand to hand combat, using uber strength and other abilities to their full potential. So its not their power thats affected, its how they are presented using it.

His Namor feat was recent.
His nuke feat was recent. His head hanging by a thread, and getting healed was recent. His immortality was recent (I know you will argue, but it has only came out of the closet recently... It may have had some hints dropped, but it was never written)... etc, etc.

Guess what, also, after his fight with Hulk, he became so popular, that he got his own series (I may be wrong on a couple things, but bare with me). If it wasn't for popularity, Wolverine wouldn't be in almost every Marvel game, every Marvel event, every X-Men comic, and without those, he wouldn't have his super feats.

So how can you say, that it isn't true?

You can't. Everyone and their dog seems to worship Wolverine, so he's literally in everything. I was suprised he wasn't in Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, but he makes an appearance in Ultimate Spider-Man, and to serve what purpose but to sound cool?

Seriously, he's gotten so popular that you get morons all the time that are always saying omg teh clawz!

At least they've pulled him out of most of the X-Men books... there was a time where he was in all of them at the same time and his own series. 😬

Whether a character becomes popular due to fanbase depends upon how editors/writers perceive the mentality of the fans... I'm going to make a generalisation and say that many people who like Wolverine do so because they think he's cool because he does "cool things", and that in turn forces writers to make him do "cool things" to appease fans, which attracts the type of fan that only likes a character for the "cool things" they do, which forces writers... and so on.

Everyone likes Wolverine. They may not want to admit it , but they do.

I hate the hairy little bastard and would like to strangle him with his own intestines.

But deep inside everyone thinks for a few seconds 'Wow , that was f*cking AWESOME'.

It's a fact of life , and a milder form of how people rope you into religion.

I hate to admit but I think you're right. Its like everyones got a bit of Wolverine in them.

I don't understand how anyone could NOT like Wolverine. His writing may be ridiculous at times, but the character itself is awesome.

I brought up Wolverine for 1 reason.

He has gone from having a good healing factor, to the point where now he can choose whether or not he lives or dies. 🙄
I'm sorry but IMO Wolvie not ever being able to die is based solely of fan popularity.

I don't dislike Wolvie, the idea of his character is great, but that is absolutley rediculous.

Quite true actually.
