No, Surreal, I think it's a different question when we take Liz out of the picture entirely and leave the guys to, uh, their own devices. Explain the chemistry between J/N that other slash pairings just don't have. I have a hard time even imagining it, but I can only see the suggestion of it to the other (even if they are both gay) being a swift bullet to the head.
Look at Elizabeth and Jack: Polar opposites (wealth, privelege, morals, etc), but similar enough (morals 😉, love of freedom and adventure, etc) to annoy each other.
If you look at all the scenes between Elizabeth and Jack, she spends most of her time being annoyed at, irritated by, or angry at Jack. It's what makes them sizzle and sparkle on-screen.
Same with James and Jack. Norrington and Jack are polar opposites, and yet so similar it's annoying to both of them.
The annoyance, irritation, anger....oh yes, that is a great build up to a pairing between them. They both have a longing to have someone love them...why not each other?
I like Norrington/Will together (especially if Sparrabeth is involved -- excellent reason to hook them up), or Will/Jack....
Or honestly, I like Jack/Will/Elizabeth, Will/Elizabeth/James, Will/Liz/James/Jack, and of course, Jack/James/Will (hello, three-way swordfight!).
It's just personal preference. I'm not any more right than you are in LIKING a pairing. 😄
I just don't take the relationship thing seriously enough to actually try to defend N/J, or any other slash pairings. 😄 It's all good fun for me.
I don't mind J/E, but I like W/E more. *shrug* Go figure.
I just don't like the slash genre, Surreal. Now, you're not one of those people who takes cartoons and makes them slash or x-rated, are you? For example, when I was a kid, there was a show called "Gargoyles" that I just loved, animated, part of the Disney franchise. Well, I came across a website in my adulthood that had fanfiction and the kid in me says, "Oh boy! The adventures of Goliath and friends all over again!" And then it is one of the most adult, erotic stories I've ever read, and I've come across some pretty smutty stuff in my time.

😘 no way...i do not like the thought of Brokeback Pirates...I guess i'm old fashioned....just all for Jack and Liz....Sparrabeth and all that good romantic stuff between a sweet girl who underneath her skirts is feisty and a real hellcat falls for roguish, handsome, from the wrong side of the tracks guy....come on.. a governor's daughter and a pirate...can't get more romantic than that.... 😄
I don't like cartoons being slashed, unless it's the more adult anime films/shows.
It's not even the smut I'm really interested in; I tend to shy away from most sex scenes, including het sex, just because that kind of thing doesn't really interest me.
I mean, yes, I read and write het/slash/bi scenes, but if you ask anyone I RP with, it's like pulling teeth to get me involved in smut that goes beyond kissing (and even then, I'm kind of like, "Can we move on?"😉. 😛
What I'm interested in is the relationship itself. Sex is just a bonus of sorts. So when I think about slashy stuff, I'm thinking about the journey the characters take in order to get their relationship together...it's all about the interaction, the tension, the arguments, the falling apart and coming together of the characters...
For me, those moments are more delicious and intimate than any kiss or sexual encounter could ever be.
I don't like the kiss between J/E because to me, it isn't hot and sexy, it's just gross. The way they were kissing is disgusting to me, because it didn't look intimate or loving; Liz was too anxious and Jack was too mechanical for my tastes. 😄
But back to favorite things: The dog. I just think the dog is so cute, and I hope that it will be in the third film somehow.
Also, I adore Davy Jones. I think his character is evil, yet vulnerable. He's very interesting to watch. His eyes and his lips are very expressive. 😄
mmmm... speaking of smutty kisses... Jack and Elizabeth's kiss is great to me because it is sort of rushed--- it's intense, it's desperate, it's the end of the line for both of them, the point of no return, if I may. It's the sort of kiss that says "I want you here and now", which I find just as powerful as any kiss of tenderness or 'completing the journey'... but that's just me.
it's raw. powerful. yeah, it's definately not Emma and Mr. Knightly in the park. It's a pirate kiss.

If the relationship between Will and Liz was so strong, she would've evern thought of flirting with Jack and going in with the flow of the curiosity scene. She wouldn't have to kiss him she could've pointed a sword to Jack and make him stay there.
There wouldn't have been so much tension between Will and Liz and Jack....come on! 🙄
