Okay....how about the DMC commentary when Jack is in the rowboat and Ted and Terry talk about what the compass is doing for Jack..the soft spoken one says that he believes the compass is pointing to where it's been pointing all along for jack "and that's all I'm going to say about that"....things that you go HUmmmmm???? So, if that is the case...we know that the writers have implied that the compass keeps pointing to Liz and that's what's frustrating Jack cuz he doens't want to want her...I love his expression when he looks down at the compass for the last time before he returns to the Pearl. It's like "okay, already, I know....I can't deny it anymore, dammit".....and there he is in all his glory with the hallo of light surrounding him "My Hero" as Liz looks up to him....so once again Jack is there to save the day and Elizabeth...at the end of COTBP he is the mastermind behind everything that is accomplished in the cave...and he's the one who ultimately saves Elizabeth's life by shooting Barbossa....just as Barbossa is about to shoot Liz.....and then at the end of DMC...he returns to shoot the cargo net to forstall the kraken so Elizabeth and the others can escape....
Oh, jack...I love Jack Sparrow....I love that "action figure" picture of him in the released poster/photo promos....
Hell yeah! I love that little halo around him, and what's weird is one of the kracken's tentacles goes by and maybe it's the lighting, but it almost looks like a wing and it's right behind Jack. I thought that was cool.
The overall feeling I got from the commentary is that Jack's totally crushing on Liz, is at least wanting her if not in love with her, but the writers don't say much about Liz's feelings for him except she's lusting after him.
It's another case of wanting someone but not wanting to want them. This is hard to explain. Liz wants Will, of course. He's her fiance and they have that special bond of being an engaged couple. She's protective of him and all that. But she doesn't want to want him. She wants to want Jack, and she starts to, but then it becomes the other way around. Wanting Jack is wrong in her mind, so she doesn't want to want him. Hence all the conflict.
She also still wants Will because that's what she knows, what she can expect, etc. It's easier to just stay with Will.
^^Exactly
The "wanting" here is very difficult. She is comfortable with Will because he is her childhood sweetheart. She has a need of watching over him, to keep him sane and happy.
But then, here comes Jack. The kind of man she is looking for--a pirate. She has read all his stories, she knows all his adventures, and she even knows the real truth of Jack Sparrow.
She found out in DMC that he can be indeed a good man. That impacted her even more.
Sometimes..I think that she wants to hear those three words from Jack "I love you" so she can be sure.
She went with Will soon after she finds out he loves her, sure, part of it was because she also loves him.
But I think she wants to hear those words from jack....that's why she was so curious to know why his compass wasn't working properly for him..
^^ No comment on all that J/E stuff. 😉 I'll only get myself into trouble.
I enjoy any and all Norrington/Elizabeth interaction.
I also enjoyed, in the DMC script, the scene where Jack is making James scrub the deck with his wig. I can just imagine the look on James' face when Jack tells him that work helps to build character.
Don't the directions state something like James has to resist the urge to strangle Jack? 😄
It's too bad there isn't more Jack/James interaction. Lots of slash potential between them with their zingy chemistry. Yummmmmmm.

yep....and they even say it in the commentary..and we use to say it all the time on here...and people said we were crazy...but I was one of the first ones way back in July and August that said Liz did it to resist temptation...if Jack is gone then he is no longer a temptation and she doesn't have to choose between him and Will...and she really wants to choose Jack but she doesn't want to hurt Will
Surreal, you and your slashiness...... Seriously, what makes J/N more appealing than J/W? Or even W/N? I find it all a little off-putting and not fun, but whatever. I do like that Norrington picks on Jack in the first one and it's vice versa in the second. They leave it open-ended as to whether these two respect each other as worthy opponents, or if they just annoy the hell out of the other. I love their interactions because of just that. Norrie is Jack's Moriarty.
I'm a big fan of all slashy pairings for Pirates. 😉
The question I could ask you of course, is why do you find J/E so much more appealing than W/E, or N/E?
It's the same thing for me. Chemistry. I love the interaction, and the potential of what could happen.
Although slash is obviously not canon, it is much fun to dabble in for fanfiction and such. 😄
not into Brokeback Mountain girls...sorry.....and no brokeback pirates for me...that's just too weird for me....
Surreal...I understand...you can't see the J/E chemistry and we just don't get the W/E or the N/E chemistry....My Mom watched DMC once and has never seen POTC and she thinks Jack is too silly and thinks Liz belongs with Will...I'm trying to convince her otherwise...now my sister, who like me is a POTC and DMC junkie...is all for Liz and Jack...
