CUT TO THE DECK OF THE PEARL ---- AFTERNOON
*Beckett, Tia, and Jones are standing together on the deck. Beckett is watching Tia warily.*
Beckett: We should bind her.
Jones: It won't do no good. She can free herself if she wants to.
Beckett: I held her captive once before.
Tia: Only because I chose to allow you to do so.
Beckett: *suddenly suspicious* So why did you allow me to regain Jones' heart? Who's side are you on?
Tia: *strokes Beckett's cheek* What side? Davy, tell him what side I am on.
Jones: *snorts* She's a woman, Beckett. Doesn't that answer your question?
*Tia looks sharply at Jones. Jones glares back. Beckett ponders this for a moment, then wisely decides that being in the middle of an argument between those two is not a good idea.*
Beckett: I will be in my cabin. I will call for you shortly. Until then, keep an eye on her.
*Beckett goes into the Captain's quarters. Jones and Tia regard each other silently for a moment, obviously unsure of what to say. Finally, Jones offers his arm to Tia, and she accepts it as they stroll along the deck of the Dutchman.*
Jones: He doesn't know that the heart is gone.
Tia: No. And he must not know yet.
Jones: *stops walking and looks at Tia* What is your plan, goddess?
Tia: *gazes out at the water* It is time.
Jones: *also ponders the sea* Yes. Yes it is.
Tia: We have very little time left.
Jones: I have much to do. But first...
*Jones raises his tentacled hand to Tia's face. For a moment, it becomes a human hand, and he touches her cheek.*
Jones: I beg forgiveness of you. I was given a task and I have failed in it. You gave me your love freely, and grew jealous of any who also lay claim on you.
Tia: De sea never looks back, Davy. Even as long as you have sailed, you have never crossed de same water twice.
Jones: *wryly* I suppose that is a fancy way of saying that you forgive me.
*Tia only smiles at Davy. She scowls then, and for a moment Davy thinks it is at him, but then he hears a footfall behind him and he turns. Beckett is there, smirking.*
Beckett: Touching, Jones. Very touching. I order you to give me the coin back. I need to have a little conversation with James before the battle begins.
*Jones hesitates for a split second, but Tia pokes him in the back and he reluctantly hands over the coin to Beckett.*
Beckett: Very good. I expect you to meet me at the Admiral's new accomodations. Bring the sea witch with you when you come.
*Tia is obviously angry at this lack of respect. Jones looks furious himself, but manages to just barely hold off from striking Beckett. When the man has vanished belowdecks, Jones turns to Tia.*
Tia: His disrespect will be duly punished. *she glances to where Beckett has gone*
Tia: We must follow him. I have a bad feeling about what dis man is going to do to James.
Jones: *grumbling, half-teasing* Must you always be on a first name basis with all these men?
Tia: *indignantly* The sea has many lovers. James is one of the best, and one of the most faithful.
Jones: *slows down* When you say 'lover'...what did you mean?
Tia: *makes an impatient noise and pokes Davy to get him moving again.* And dis is your business how...?
