I think that post by Ms. Marvel is a simple case of inconsideration

your opinions smell flawed. rightfully yours to have, but flawed.

a movie being predictable doesnt necessarily make it a bad movie, but that is just me.

where did i say that it did? i said that the movie was cliche and predictable and shallow. it was basically Pocahontas with epic cgi. same exact story.

it is very flawed that you think men without guns lose to men with guns always.

i dont.

when it came to the aerial battle, what did you expect to happen? those birds were the size of a damn aircraft of theirs and had the strength to throw them around like feathers. also, they even lost the air battle

i expected the 80 foot long bird to have gotten shotten down ten seconds in. it was longer then 50 feet at least. with all those anti-aircraft turrets hanging around there is no possible way something that big wouldnt have gotten shot down instantly. its too huge of a target, it would have been a priority. at least in real life. if id been in charge of that convoy i wouldnt have suffered even half the losses they took there.

this is going to end with you saying "well its a movie". 😐 lets just skip to that.

as for Jake to come in there and kick ass, lets just remind you that he is first of all a trained marine and given the nature of the Na'vi, obviously more experienced in battle. the Na'vi was a highly peaceful people and simply having owned the body longer does not mean they are so much superior one who has three months of training inside it.

they had bows and arrows did they not? they werent violent people but they obviously werent stupid either and i was referring to him being better than them at their own customs. its like with the really giant bird the chick was talking about how only 5 of them were ever ridden in history or something along that line. so why is this random dude who's only had three months of training have this awesomely epic ability to do it? what was his reasoning when he captured it? "Its the top of the food chain so it never looks up." random dude who's only known of its existence for a week can think that up but the people who have been hunting and capturing the things for a thousand years couldn't comprehend such a simple concept? its a movie.

and lets not forget that when Jake was not in his avatar body, training for three months, he was outside it reading a detailed book about the Na'vi.

because obviously random human woman knows more about the na'vi and how the world around them works then the na'vi themselves and the world they've been living in for who knows how much longer?

the comment i made about this was in reference to the old tarzan movie. this little white kid becomes stranded in the jungle and he grows up and can communicate with the animals and shiz. throughout the entire movie there are tons of native black people who inhabit the jungle and they spend the entire movie getting their ass kicked by the animals. why is it that the people who's entire culture began within the jungle a thousand years prior cant handle these animals theyve grown up around but random white dude can ride on them and kill them with ease? because its a movie.

seems to me like you just want to find flaws in the movie and those few you find are farfetched and rather silly attempts to point out bad things in the movie.

then again, it is your opinion like how what above is mine. [/B]

your opinion on my opinion is flawed. 😐

I'm pretending to be angry at something that doesn't matter. The movie I'm referencing is "Employee of the Month." It's a metaphor for getting upset at something that does not warrant getting upset over (on my end.) I was pretending it was a big deal as a joke, cause it's not a big deal.

Star Trek was full of retarded plot holes. You missed them all, apparently. Big deal. I don't think any less of you for it. Not in the slightest.

You liked the film? If so, great. I gave it a 6.5-7...not a failing score, by any means.

*sigh*

Why you make tings fer serialz? 🙁

Don't think I will be able to see it at the cinema in 3D, shame really.

I came out of it fine

only movies that give me sickness while watching them at the cinema are movies like cloverfield how it was filmed on the camera and shaking around alot.

First 3D were my head didn't hurt, so that was a plus. Though the 3D took away from the amazingly good visuals(looked better onscreen than the previews) imo. Will watch this again in 2D, to enjoy it more.

The film was decent overall, the done-it-before and predictable story was offset by the over-abundance of eye candy, which again, was amazing.

The human-tech reminded me a bit of Halo, but it looked equally awesome.

i agree with you it looked a lot like halo which is a good thing imo because it means that if they ever make the movie at least they can get the tech down!

Ditto. Cept, I wasn't sick. More just pissed. However, the film was going for a specific "angle" (pardon the pun) and it kept it more faithful to that angle to have amateurs working the camera. i can't fault the movie for doing a good job there because that would be wrong. However, I can fault that camera work as frustrating...even thought it added to the "awesomeness" of the film. I hope the next one is done from the angle (again, no pun intended here) of a professional documentarian. That would hold to the realism of the film that the first one had, but also remove most of what people complained about which is shitty camera work.

And, the more I read about Avatar from you guys, the more I want to see it. FUUUUU I can't wait. 🙁

I had no problem watching this, neither did my nephew..

i have seem similar theme type films, but overall i liked avatar

watched it. loved it. i now forgive cameron for titanic.

"'Avatar' earns $73 million in opening"

- $27 million on Friday
- $232.2 million worldwide -

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3ia0d444a2a4b3e35a86252bf4344c5400

Avatar is officially budgeted at $237 million. some estimates put the cost as high as $500 million – $300 million to produce and an estimated $150 million for marketing, with a further $50 million buffer inserted to cover further costs.

Well going at this pace i forsee Cameron making his money back and then some by the end of next weekend. The inevitable percentage dip won't be as significant i don't think because you have the second wave of people coming in to see avatar that couldn't get in for sold out tickets on opening weekend along with those who wanna go for a second vewing.

Then you'll have the 3rd wave of people who're just gonna wait until after the avatar fiends have had their fill, and the holiday season passes just after jan 1. Meaning regular movie goers. Then you'll have dvd sales afterwards.

I'll be catching this tommorow on 3d imax.

actually according to wiki it's just about made it's money back..

Budget $237,000,000
Gross revenue $232,180,000

nice..

I watched it in IMAX 3D last night. Loved it. Though I still don't think 3D is quite there yet, there was one or two moments when some parts seemed to be out of focus.

well it looks like i won't be watching avatar until next weekend. the times i can only go to are sold out till sunday 12/27.

Watched this movie in 3d yesterday on the big screen.

Best movie Ive seen yet and I am a picky sci fi fan, absolutely brilliant!!!!!

The imagination and ideas are truly of this world.

Saw it on Saturday, it was good and i enjoyed it alot. but i don't understand why he had to wait 15 years to do it he could of done it 10 years ago. although it would of cost probably twice as much. The only issue i had with it is the aliens looked too CGI, jar jar and the other CGI in star wars 1 2 3 were way better. I think it's because the aliens were so blue, had they been an earthy tone it may of been a bit better. Not such a drastic shift.

10 years ago, it would've taken forever to make a portion of the things done in that movie. they created virtually an entire word with computers.
according to IMDB, there was significantly more CGI than live action in the movie.

True, but they did do it in episodes 1 2 3, although be it not a whole movie. that is why i said it would cost twice as much.
