Hmm, DK seemed all over the place but I don't find fault in any of the points.I happen to be a Democrat. I can't tell you much about what McCain is doing except that he is a supporter of damn near everything Bush is doing currently. Frankly, that's all I feel like I need to know
Just for fun I'm going to share an e-mail with you folks. As a member of the Executive Board of the Indiana University College Democrats, my job is to provide all electronic communication between the Exec. Board and the general membership. Well here's an e-mail I wrote after the Indiana primary.
Dear College Dems,We hope you're having a fantastic summer so far...
we just wanted to write because, as we're sure you already know, Indiana's primary was
this past Tuesday. And we now officially have our nominees for Indiana's 9th
Congressional District and for the Governor of Indiana - Congressman Baron Hill and
Former Congresswoman and Undersecretary of Agriculture Jill Long Thompson, respectively.
We encourage you to work for their campaigns if you live in Indiana or the 9th District.
If you're from out of state, be sure to work for local races in your community too!And it is looking increasingly likely that the Presidential Primary will go to the
convention. Make no mistake, the race between Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton
will continue to be exciting. But that means lots of work once we come back in the fall!
Hope you return rested!Summerly Yours-
IU College Democrats
And here's a response I got from a past IUCD President, whose name I have removed.
With all due respect, there is absolutlely no evidence of any sort
that the Presidential nomination battle will go to the convention.
Clinton's campaign has publicly assured everyone that they will end
it in June. I was actually the one who wrote the clause in your
constitution preventing you from endorsing during a primary and you
guys should definitely remain neutral until the Clinton campaign does
concede, but I don't think its responsible or wise to be suggesting
that a convention battle will take place in a mass email. That would
be very damaging to our chances of taking the presidency, and right
now we need to be assuring everyone that it won't take place, and
that this race will resolve in an amicable manner.******
Past IUCD President 2001-2003
And here's my reply:
If the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee doesn't settle the Michigan/Florida debacle when they
meet in May, which I doubt they will, I don't see a scenario where either Clinton or
Obama get the delegates to lock the nomination, and without the FL/MI situation solved,
Clinton will take the campaign to the convention unless enough superdelegates defect to
Obama to get him the necessary amount of delegates, which I also doubt. I'm just being
realistic, dude. And just because we haven't had an actual convention in a couple decades doesn't mean
that such a thing would irreparably damage the party. I personally believe that such a
thing will be strengthen the party and show America and the world that all of the
diversity, energy and money is on the Democrats' side come fall. Did you hear that
because the primary has gone on as it has, there was an almost 400% increase in voter
turnout in the Indiana primary? With all of the new voter registration, we (the
Democratic party as well as IUCD) are in position to make "Red States" all over the
country competitive for the next 4, 6, or 8 election cycles, if not more.Sure, the primary may be resolved by June, but if it isn't? Man, I'm excited.

i disagree. my belief is that we'll see more superdelegates switch sides to end the stalemate, just as we're seeing now.

thanks for the info!Better to stop now instead of splitting up the democrats... and a black would get more impact on the world... Finland & Germany already have female leaders so it's nothing new. A black in a "Western" country is new, I think?
