I was kinda hoping it would be Hal so I could see some Sinestro. He could stumble through the movie with his ring. Like he's got a mission or something and his ring is trying to take him somewhere but he keeps willing it to stop. He's doin' this and doin' his stuff, then he's in a situation he can't get out of! Oh no! Bam! Sinestro! He does some whimmy wam wam wozzle and defeats everyone with his ring. Green Lantern of sector 2814, you are to report to training immediately!

Whatever, Nigga. 🙄
Just another nerd with an opinion. I didn't buy his reasoning about IRON MAN, either. He's got such a narrow list of comic films he has liked, and thinks perfectly good film series like X-Men & Spider Man were complete crap. That's just his view; not some gospel. No more valid than the blogger who wrote Optimus Prime was ruined because they painted flames on the side of his cab. 😗
If the studios actually listened to people like this, nothing new would ever be tried.

he was right about x-men, though. they took massive liberties with the comics so that they could make a popcorn movie. not saying the same will happen with GL, but i think he made some valid points.
It was thanks to the success of X-Men that Marvel got their movie making machine FINALLY rolling. What others call massive liberties, I call amalgamating two strands of history - the first class of early X-Men and the second coming (Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus et al) into one story.
And someone tell this other guy he doesn't have to watch GL if he doesn't want to. Just read the comics and stay away. But then, you can still find fans who think Chris Nolan's Batman's is a 'horrible reimagining' - you can't please them all.

they weren't faithful to all the characters, though, and x-men, iirc, wasn't the first successful marvel movie. blade was, i think.

Blade was a success, but a qualified risk; a small step forward with a character way down the list (I mean, way down) of heroes, who happen to fight enemies in a well-known genre - the vampire film. It was incidental that Blade came from the Marvel Universe. But, it was Marvel's statement that they were getting beyond the clutches of hackmeisters like Roger Corman & The Cannon Group to do crappy, low budget films of their superheroes. Hell, the biggest film to come from Marvel at that time was still Howard The Duck!doh

😂
i remember that.
i just hate seeing people rave about how great x-men was, when it only stayed faithful to about half the cast of characters that were introduced. commercial success? sure, but if we're talking faithfulness to the spirit of the comics (like spidey, iron man etc), then god no...
I know you're a Cyclops fan 😖hifty: so let's just respectfully disagree on X-Men. Back to the blogger & his view: you can have fears about GL, but to dismiss it as something that can't be done on the big screen (so don't bother) isn't something I will subscribe to. As long as they are making a serious big-budget attempt, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. If I see crap when I watch it, then I'll say it's crap.

lol, not just cyclops. 😛
and i agree about GL. while the guy does have a point, he is being a bit premature. no harm in giving GL a shot and seeing how it turns out.

that is just one man's opinion..
if the script is good, good cgi and acting is good then you should have a good film as well as a successful film

possibly, but also it gives them plenty of time for good cgi effects
Maybe this also means no more Batman until 2012. 🙁
And Superman...God, it gives you a headache trying to figure out what they want to do with him. And when.
So Green Lantern shares that summer with Thor & Captain America. I hope the releases are well staggered.

i can't believe how difficult they're being over superman. he's no harder to make a movie of than bats or gl, and those are already being worked on/have been made...

Maybe they think the character is out of with today's world, who want their heroes with a touch of darkness or angst, because they identify with them better. I don't know. You try to darken him, you get characters like Hyperion or Majestic.
Captain America may have the same challenge, but he has wartime experience on his side to help sell him.
superman has darkness and angst, though. not as often shown as some characters, but it's there.
