Im not buying that at all.. It was the movie that was bad, not the concept.
Thats a poor excuse from Miller, Marvel's had some bad movies too, but they dnt just give up, and they dnt overspend.

👆 Im on board for that!
This movie was such a disaster I can't help but laugh. The fact that Thor beat Green Lantern last week in terms of box office receipts despite coming out like 7 weeks earlier is lol worthy.
They should've just used Kyle. His awesomeness would have propelled the movie into success despite the poor quality.

X2 was great, I mean it was really jus Wolverine the movie with several XMen cameos but it wasn't a bad movie by any means.First Class still better thou!
If only they'd made the Magneto solo movie thou. 🙁
"Magneto the movie with several XMen cameos." They did.
It's called
Spoiler:.
X-Men: First Class

Agreed. Thor was a great movie and a great success and he is a fantastical Superhero as well.

I actually think John Stewart would have worked best (and im saying this being more of a Hal and Kyle fan)
Kyle still would have been played by Reynolds.. They still would have made him this "funny" guy with too many cheesy and sarcastic lines.. The only difference it would have made is that he wouldn't be a pilot.
On the other hand Stewart would have given this movie the more serious tone it needed.
Also they spent years showing Stewart as GL in the JL cartoon, just to use Hal in the movie. A lot of (non-comic book fans) were saying to me after seeing the GL trailer "GL's supposed to be black! Why have they made him white?!"
Not good in terms of marketing to promote him as one character for years on a popular cartoon, just to make him a completely different character for the movie.
Originally posted by DARTH POWERDitto. Been saying it 4a while. &John's too cool to wear that lame ass mask so they could have saved some money (&face) by not using that stupid CGI. In short, this movie may have been better if they'd just used some Common Sense..... 😈 Get it? 😂 I'll be here all week folks.

I hope they show multiple GL's in the next film. Kyle, Guy, John, etc... Seeing as they are building the whole Sinestro Corps thing.
It will come out around the time your grandchildren start popping up.
That's how hard this movie flopped, and how long DC/Warner Bros. has to wait for the stench to go away and people to forget!

Robinov seems to have the right idea for a sequel "F*** Earth"
I said that when I saw Green Lantern:First Flight. He also realises Family fun and stupid humour does not go with GL, and should have a darker tone.
Its just a shame there wnt be much of an audience for a seqeul now. Big shame!

That's good. I think that's what DC have in mind, anyway.

I am. GL Cap
Well it was a bit silly of me to say its actually going to "Flop" with just a $150million budget and being marketed by the upcoming Avengers movie and with "the studio who brought you Iron Man and Thor"
What I siad on the Dark Knight vs Avengers thread was this:
Originally posted by DARTH POWERFirst of all I personally dnt see Captain America being a big hit. You can hold me to that later.
I still dnt see it being a "Big Hit".. It wasn't that good IMO. It had an initial blitz through good marketing but I think its going to seriously slow down now. I will be very surprised if it ends up being a hit on the scale of Thor, because Thor was a vastly superior movie.
P.S I never said it was going to do worse than GL.. In fact I said somewhere I seriously doubt it will be as bad as GL, because GL they just screwed up big time.
I just checked Greg Berlanti the writer and producer of GL has absolutely no past writing or producing credentials for big screen movies.
The Director Martin Campbell does (he'd done Casino Royal and Golden Eye) which is quite surprising because I felt the Direction of this movie was one of its main faults.
But to spend $200mill on a movie produced and written by a guy with no previous credentials?? What were they thinking??

I feel it was the Earth related stuff that kind of ruined the movie.. The opening action sequence was actually pretty awsome.. And the final fight was good too.

GL 2 might not happen now. Not a big surprise really.
