Oh, ofcourse Emma is behaving like a manipulative, sarcastic, deceptive, yet irritatingly direct and hurtfully honest bi*ch,
but she is not at all hartless, on the contrary. Even Phoenix-Jean acknowledged aunty Emma's true love for Scott, even Xavier saw that despite her behaviour she deeply cares for her kind in general and her student in particular, to a point even that brought her down emotionally when she lost some of them to Fitzroy, the Sentinels or Stryker.
Just because she is able to keep her feelings in check in front of those she has to take care of, just becaue she plays the ice-queen and doesn't outwardly react like you would to immediate emotional trauma, doesn't mean she has no emotions or is heartless ... obviously. ✅
