Really not that impressive considering the others survived it too, but Emma survives a blast from Cyclops. I suppose from the look of things, Emma got the brunt seeing how she was in front of Wolverine when it happened. Also some Gen X nostalgia.

Emma Frost a household name?

Before it was very common for Marvel Universe telepaths to compare themselves to Xavier but has Emma finally reached that kind of prominence? Here we have an Initiative D-lister say he's not as good as Emma Frost. He manages to f*ck with Gambits head so...he can't be that that bad.

In this reality it should first be noted that Jean is NOT (I repeat NOT) the Phoenix. She's pretending to be the Phoenix but she doesn't have access to it's cosmic reserves. With that said Emma does not mind sharing Scott with Jean. And in this reality since Jean does not have the PF Emma easily dispels her from her mindscape. She then proceeds to kill the Witch (Scarlet Witch) for tattling. Both telepaths call their friends (some via Mind Control) to come and fight for them and a mutant civil war breaks out with Emma and Jean on either side.

While Emma can't exert her mind in Diamond Form she can still tell when there's psychic energy at work.

What exactly happens with the Sentry and the Void in this scene?

Fraction : Scott and Emma knew they couldn't beat the Sentry, so they had to distract the Void and for a split second Emma does just that. She keeps it within herself long enough for Bob Reynolds to snap to, realize what's happening, and flee. All they needed to do was to buy that half-a-second for the Sentry to take off and he flies into space as fast as he can. He realizes the best thing he can do is get off the battlefield. He goes off at the speed of light and the Void rushes after him to reconnect so they can be whole again.

Doing that has left a sliver of the Void in Emma's psyche. She's got this weird, twisted dagger of darkness incarnate in her brain. So she has to stay trapped in diamond form, which cuts her off from her psychic powers. If she were to go flesh and blood the Void would have access to the abilities of an Omega level telepath. So she's basically the carrier for a disease. That was the price she paid.

Marvel.com: You mention things from the past building to the present. And we see that with Emma, a piece of the Void still remains in her. Apparently these pieces continue to build to the future as well.

Fraction: Yeah. She's stuck in diamond form. She's an omega class telepath. She can't risk giving the Void access to that. So, the X-Man's telepath is stuck in a diamond.

Fraction: Oh yeah. That's a huge thing. The X-Men's omega class telepath has just been taken off the board. She's stuck in diamond form. As long as she's in diamond form she doesn't have access to her psychic powers, and neither does the Void. Lest the Void gain access to Emma's abilities, she has to stay in diamond form to keep everyone safe.

Emma Frosts Diamond Form can withstand a frontal TK blast assault from Hellion. This is also a good showing as to how fast she can change in and out of Diamond Form as she changes out of it and mentally freezes Julian. She then changes back into Diamond in order to stop a lunging Daken from killing Avalanche which is a display of Speed and Durability as she gets there in time and Dakens Magic Murasame don't seem to be able to cut her (This is referenced again in the issue).

Daken implies that his claws are not able to cut Emma as he tells her to come and face him in the flesh. Emma is also PO'd at Norman.

Emma's Diamond Form undergoes adamtine luster which disperses psi energy therefore Xavier is unable to read her thoughts as they are protected. Thus she has to speak out loud so he can hear what she's saying. However she is able to hear his thoughts. This would explain some of the discrepancies regarding her telepathy and Diamond Form in Whedons run.
