His envolvement was not racial. it was politicle in nature. Exactly what he was afraid would happen has happened. America now has an Army of Super People (the equivelent of a WMD stockpile in the 50's) If your the King of a nation that's constatly bumping heads with the US you might be in for some trouble (no boats, no planes, no tanks, no missles, no guns. JUST CAPES. Can you immagine?)
That was the whole point of the "Honeymoon" tour. To talk with other leaders and find out how the World is reacting and what can be done about it. (like a FUNCTIONING UN)
BP has always been all about the BIG picture.
And Hong Kong Fooey was the GREATEST

You could probably add this little gem as well, where Storm and Sue act like high school cheerleaders for Hercules's pounding on Clor.
Terrible scene. Terrible writting. I agree. But, for me, it went downhill when Sue stepped in. (yet another missed oppotunity to see Storm kick ass like never before. They could have still let Herc finish him, i just didn't see the need for Sue to jump in.)
But on the bright side she did display some of that regal tone that everyone loves so much.
Also, the people (mob) were his fans (come out to support the super hero Black King.) he knew it was a dangerous situation and said so all throughout the book.
Crowd control started getting rowdy. a little girl got pushed down. he jumps the fence to help. The POLICE (O.N.E.) thought he was making his "move" and moved to apprehend him. the crowed got disorganised people rushing and crowding. The queen sends lightning, Thunder and rain, to give Panther time to get the girl to safety. etc. etc.
ok that scene i think ppl should lighten the f **** up on... that one i never took seriously, not even for a minute. grant it, storm was never really known for her patience, but my beef with hudlin came when she started charging into conversations, and head butting ppl her husband was having discussions with, so much so to the point where he had to tell her to chill the f **** out which she often ignored him. my experience with storm is that she usually only flipped out when totally backed in a corner, but this new brash, and obnoxious attitude wasnt working for me..
at first i chalked it up to it being becuase she is just adjusting to being a head of state, but the more i thought about it the more i realized that wasnt the storm i knew, and i know dude is on this tip about it's becuz she's a strong black woman and all, but i beg to differ, i always regarded storm as a strong character, and just becuz she's starts talking out of her neck that doesnt make her any stronger.
her accent im not worried about, she's been in america since she was a young teen, check anybody you know from another country who's been here for a while...they lose thier accent within a year, while thier parents dont. besides i never was big on that shit any way i used to hate when claremont had her speak like she's spell casting with shakespeare or something

Sue needed to save Storm from Clors blast, funny enough I actually liked Sues rescue.

From the looks of things she only shot a bolt of lightning into the crowd because she lost sight of T'challa.

How many of you have been ingadged/married to a King?
being the slut for authority that i am, surprisingly i haven't been engaged to royalty...
So how can you say that some of this stuff is outside of her character when everybody knows that realtionships change people for good and bad. (Every relationship struggles to find ballance.)
Relationships change parts of people... an entire person doesn't just do a 180 once they're in a relationship... they compromise parts of themselves, but not all... still doesnt explain why storm is acting like such a cow...
Those of you that think you under stand Storm may need to go back and refresh.
Storm is a HERO first and foremost before anything else. So its not a hard leap for her to be angry at Emma's position (and given the bad blood between them).
No, she's a mutant, and an x-man... for years the x-men were more interested in creating good relations between humans and mutants than being like the avengers...
yes she's a hero, but there's a lot more to it than that...
Why would a King jump over a fence to save some lowly Black Kid? i guess he's just that kind of guy (had a civil rights feel).
It's not what he did, it's how they portrayed... the word 'slowmo' went through my head over and over with that panel of him jumping over the fence...
In the scene were Storm says she hates deplomacy. Again, understandable (politics not realy being her mode at the moment. plus the guy was an ass.)
it's the way she reacted more than anything...
As for the Sub-Mariner scene, Again, how many have been in long term relation ships with independant, strong, black women? They do stuff like that. My Momma and Lady to name a few. There was also the part were Namor told her to keep her female logic to herself, and Bp had to check'im.(black men do things like that for their ladies, My Dad and Me ae a few examples)
Bp actually tried to talk down to namor? seriously?
and chivalry exists everywhere... 😬
Your not going to like everything that a new writter does for a character (Can't please all the people, all the time) But alot of what I'm hearing, besides what i just tried to explain, are rooted in the fact that he's a black man doing his "black thing".
you don't get it at all do you...

thing is, if that scene had say, logan and hawkeye, and a little tweak of dialogue, it could have been a really good piece... sort of, two badass heroes in total awe of the beating being handed out right in front of them...
'pologies again for the length of the post....

Well Newjack, thats a pretty dumb statement. In history, whenever a powerful black man arises (Malcolm X, Martin Luther King) what happens.
A mob of black people arise to see/listen to him.
Hell even In Christopher priest's run, whenever black Panther came to the airport in America, a mob of black people were waiting to see him. I recall one page, where Capitan America had asked Black panther to help speak to a crowd of Black people who came to see him before the NYPD needlessly attacked them for fear that the "Black" crowd was going to get out of control.
Yes Christopher Priest wrote this.
Its the way it is Newjack, Christopher Priest knows it, as well as Reginald Hudlin.
There is nothing "Racial" about a mob of blacks, supporting a powerful "Black" King.
I think Hudlin says it best, I enjoy Point 6 the most....
Hudlins words......
YOUR RACE, POLITICS, RELIGION OR GENDER (or gender preference) DOESN’T MAKE YOU RIGHT. Some examples:
Being black doesn’t make you an expert on being black.
Being white doesn’t make you “more objective” than someone who isn’t.
Being a white woman or being white gay male doesn’t give you special insights into racial matters.
And the race, religion, etc of your spouse/best friend/significant other doesn’t matter either.
2.
IF YOU DON’T READ THE BOOK BUT ARE WILLING TO ARGUE ABOUT IT EITHER YOU ARE:
a) An idiot who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
b) A liar who is a fan who can’t admit it to himself or others.
3.
SOMETHING IS ONLY RUSHED IF YOU’RE NOT IN A HURRY TO GET THERE.
4.
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “RACIAL” AND “RACIST”. Look them up.
5.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS “REVERSE RACISM”. THERE IS ONLY RACISM. If you think black success means white failure, then look at the scene in BORAT with the frat boys, and realize the joke is on YOU.
6.
IS (fill in the name of a black comic book writer) A RACIST?
When I first met Dwayne McDuffie and Christopher Priest they would tell me stories about how they would be called racist by fanboys whenever they wrote strong black characters. The stories were so unbelievable…well, it’s not like I DIDN’T believe them, because both McDuffie and Priest are men of great integrity, but I couldn’t really imagine their work inspiring idiotic comments like that.
Well, a decade later, I am experiencing it first hand. Either a) the only black people Marvel and DC are willing to hire are all racists, or b) black superheroes acting like superheroes offends some fans.
Once you figure out (see point 4) discussing race is not inherently “racist” and (see point 5) black heroes winning against white opponents is not “racist”, but simply doing what other heroes too…then you’ll feel a lot better about life. If you don’t…seek help. Really.

I don't get it.
Only when it's Hudlin.
Or when the person puts constant racial overtones into the work along with writing a character up.
