Proposal Requires Straights to Have Kids or Marriages Will Be Voided

The organization who proposed this SAID that its a stunt and they KNOW it will not pass. Simply reading the article will tell you that.

The point is to address misguided criticism of "gay marriages," to address people who say that homosexuals should not be allowed to marry same sex partners on the basis that they cannot create their own children through intercourse.

Who exactly used that as an argument? 😕

If that was the case wouldn't the entire idea of marriage be a waste of time? Wouldn't it just be more efficient to simply reproduce without marriage?

So who gives a crap if you're marriage isn't recognized by the government? Its not like you HAVE to register you're marriage with the government.

Because there are over 1000 federal legal benefits that come with marriage. More are provided by states. Married citizens have a different legal status than unmarried citizens. Practically EVERY legislation that limits marriage (outside of family circumstances) has been overturned.

The anti-"gay marriage" movement is a complete REHASH of the miscongeniation laws which lasted until the 1960's. There was even an anti-miscongeniation amendment proposed in the 62nd COngress in 1916? (i believe those #s are correct).

The religious right will always be trailing behind, dragging their feet in the muddy bowls of bigotry and hatred wile we drag them on towards progress. They're not even creative enough to come up with new arguments...they just change the subject matter.

EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW. PERIOD.

Not everyone is religious, you realize, correct?

Then there is no point to marriage for them 😐

Marriage is a bond made by religious beliefs

Nothing much if you think that, since homosexually is, factually, natural.
Where are these facts?

But the government allows some people to marry, that is unfair. Why not all?

Like I said before, the government has no REAL control over marriage, the religion does

What religion?

You can marry in private sure. But the government recognizes certain marriages and others not. Is that fair? Should it be that way?

Marriage is also a LEGAL STANDING under LAW.

Ture marriage (legal marriage) is regulated in your County Clerk's office, not some random religion.

Then maybe we should get rid of the federal benefits to marriage 😐

Marriage should not be rewarded like a prize at a fair, marriage itself IS a reward. The reward of finding someone you truly love.

And when the government toys with matters beyond their perception like this, they simply bastardize it

Well then thats a whole nother argument, and not the one being discussed here. People like their tax breaks.

Marriage also has important legal ramifications such as inheritance, visitation rights, and custody, all of which are the governments business. Hence, it makes sense for marriage to be legally defined and awarded by your County Clerk.

I slipped in another post above.

Who gives a crap what the government thinks?

Like I said before, the government should not have the right to give privileges to certain people simply because they are married, or whatever.

You should be less concerned about what the government thinks and be more about what the government trys to control

^^^ See above.

Marriage was created by religions (Judaism, Christianity, ect..) as a bond between two people overseen by god.

Last time I checked the government is not god, thus they have no power to oversee a marriage

Well then check again. Marriage in the church is not recognized by the state until its signed by the state. You clearly have misconceptions about this.

I agree with that. Fully.

It occurs naturally. There is proof that at least some species participate in homosexual intercourse. That is proof that homosexuality as such is natural.

Allow me to insert my figurative two cents (or maybe it's two scents, 'cause I'm made out of poo, roffles).

One: This thread is a joke--and not like in "ha-ha, that is funny" kind of way--and the retarded within it reinforces this belief. Whoever described it as a circus picked the right word.

Two: Why the hell did they unban...that poster?

That is the whole point.

Well then that needs to change 😐

A separation of church and state needs to go both ways.

The church should not have an impact on legal issues and the government should not have an impact on religious issues.

N'uff said

My point is that marriage is also a legal issue. Hence why the government regulates it.
